Sunday wades through a bog

My mood is currently descending at a shocking rate and in the absence of heroin or diazepam, I can see myself heading to the OFFY

You’d think I’d be a DAB HAND at nicotine withdrawal having put myself through it enough times this year, yet I always feel cocky on day 3 that i’m through the worst of it before the APOCALYPTIC crash on day 4.

I hate snow. I like it for about 10 minutes because of how quiet it makes everything seem. But then it's either squishing through slush or slipping on ice for the next 3-4 days and fuck both of those.

I was too smug earlier. Today:

The filter on the pond at my Mum’s has broken but she didn’t notice so all my Dad’s pride and joy fish have died overnight.

My brand new car has done less than 500 miles and I’ve run over a fucking nail meaning I need to get a new tyre for £250 tomorrow.

The needle on my record player decided to SOMEHOW LITERALLY FUCK UP between flipping sides of a record, meaning it’s done a massive skate and put a massive scratch over my RSD copy of Elton John’s first album that cost me £30 and I’ve only played once.

My Christmas cake has decided to split in the middle. (I admit this is less of an issue than the other three right now, but still).

Seriously, what more can be thrown at me right now. ARGGGGHHHHHH!

Aww, poor fish. :(

That's the bugger with vinyl, it's so bloody fragile.

Oh TELL ME ABOUT IT. Lockdown and mask life NOT helping. Anyway, now back from Sainsbury’s with all manner of luxury treats: soluble Panadol, prawn mayonnaise sandwich, wine and, inevitably, fags

The kids must have really seen the chance to let their hair down.

Does anyone have any cheering TV recommendations? I don‘t think that popping on the DVD of Human Remains (again) is necessarily the best choice I could make

Yes the show I watched where Satan succeeds in destroying the world but then cries because he’s LONELY was hardly the pick me upper I needed tonight.

I really enjoyed Sara Pascoe's series "Out Of Her Mind". It's not really a comedy and it's pretty brave to make her self dislikable but it's clever, funny, unusual and Adrian Edmonson does an amazing turn in the second half.

“Couldn’t connect to Netflix“ my TAUT GINA. What is this, 1993?

FUCK YOU

Thank goodness I’ve been distracted by JIM WEEVIL reporting on the state of the economy :)

I REMEMBER WHEN I WAS 17, MY BOYFRIEND AT THE TIME COOKED ME PAK CHOI AND I THOUGHT IT WAS THE MOST EXOTIC THING I’D EVER TASTED
I haven't just discovered these dishes. They're restaurant prepared dishes and it's a step up from the normal tired old Aldi shit we eat every day.

I had my hair cut today (by a member of my household of course) and the hair on the front of my head has gone really thin and you can see my head :(

Im getting old

I could do with a bit of a hair revival myself. I still have full coverage but fuck me it's passed it's glory days.

The most eventful thing in my day was opening a new bar of Pears. I hope tomorrow is similarly scintillating.

Oh I've been meaning to ask you if you watched that. It was interesting to compare with Duchess. Sara did a radio interview where she said that Katherine's character wasn't an exact self-portrait, but hers was. :D I feel SURE it's actually the other way round, Sara can't possibly be that awful IRL.

The series is essentially a sitcom version of the themes explored in her first book, "Animal" and her radio series "The Modern Monkey". She portrays herself even more harshly in those, especially the radio series. What she doesn't give herself credit for is her awareness of what caused some of her behaviours and having improved. She's a very intelligent woman but she is super-hard on herself.
