I suppose I see it from the other side now, but it's so tough. It's been literally 8 months now since I've had any help in looking after the kids. My dad used to pop round for a couple of hours a week and in that time I could whizz around and just get so much done. Now I've no help at all and I'm trying to manage the house as well as working and honest to God I feel like I'm sinking so badly. I can't keep on top of it all and everything just feels a mess. As well as that there's just no where we can go right now, so we're stuck in the house, on a day like today I will literally spend 10 hours in the living room as Mr Star is working from home. And when the kids are sick, again I have no choice but to call in sick because there's just no one else that can look after them. I've never been so exhausted!
Yeah I do absolutely understand it, now days at least. Not so much pre Covid. But this one today is a 13 year old who has been sent home from school absolutely feeling fine, but the mother won't leave her for a couple of hours.

Are yours generally easy to entertain or is it hard work?

Honestly, still don't understand the child appeal at all. And it must be SO much harder at the moment.

Oh FFS at not leaving a 13 year old on her own, the only risk on the Isle of Wight is her dying of BOREDOM.

I do think it's so much easier with older kids, I'm dealing with a 1 and 3 year old! Even with the 3 year old, if Mr Star had to work and look after him, you can just about. A 13 year old i don't really get that

Exactly!! And she's a really grown up 13 year old! It just seems like it's always the ones with children that cause the issues :(

*Nothing against parents. Honestly. But it is frustrating from a management side.

I've just regrettably had to delete a transphobic bitch from my FB.

Pretty sure someone deleted me the other day for my QUITE MILD PRO-VAX rant.

The battlelines within society really are fucking tedious.

I did the same with an ex work colleague a few years back. He was always alright, then had a baby and started going on these weird "transphobic/anti-snowflake" rants on Facebook. A shift CHOP sorted it out.

Apparently, she didn't like being identified as CIS, trans women should identify as trans not women and they existed as a detriment to biological women. Tis a shame, an otherwise lovely woman who got everything else.

I think she'd read that awful JK Rowling piece.

Amazing she picked all that up from Harry Potter, but there you go.

:basil::basil::basil:

Classic recycled homophobia - a retreat of the "I'm not STRAIGHT, I'm NORMAL" bollocks from the 70s and 80s.

That's pretty much what I said, that her view occupies the same place as homophobia and that with regret ta ta.

OH GOOD. The deafening hammering across the road has started again.

I'm hiding in the backroom of the house, but it's echoing EVERYWHERE.

Aaw. That sounds good! And a steal. I'm definitely paying London prices :D

How much are you paying?!?!

(Best thing about working in a school before I had my Clavinova was having access to pianos...! :D )

Well I've had most of my root filling stuff done except she discovered I have a big infection in my jawbone so she's put some antibiotic stuff in and sealed up the top of the tooth. The smell that came out when she drilled right down was horrendous. When I'm back in January she'll then complete the filling and sort the crown out providing the infection's settled down. She said it's going to be very painful for a few days now so load up on painkillers.

After I came out of the dentist I decided to pop to Asda before the anaesthetic wore off. I never thought to tell Mr F I wasn't coming straight home and came out of Asda to increasingly panicked text messages of "are you OK? what's happening? where are you?!".

Speaking of which I saw the negative side of the furry fandom earlier, the joys of rampant misogyny :/
I guess there's a reason it's mostly guys. Most are just gay and nice, but you get some vocal incels mixed in as well (who got a lecture from me) and some people who don't seem to realise that "oh all the trans ones are okay, it's the real ones I don't like" is also a sentence with about 100 problems... I'd say they're a vocal minority but they do stick in the mind.

Part of it I think is the tendency for everything to revolve around sex for some of them, it's like... ffs see women as something other than sex objects and you might get on with them better! It also brings in a lot of exclusion of younger folk as some of them are like "I'm not talking to you, I'm going to block you as you're underage"... asfdgdgssgsgfff there's nothing wrong with talking to under 18s, you don't HAVE TO see everything in terms of "can I fuck it?" D: They're human and have feelings too you know.

I love furries don't get me wrong but boy do we have one or two ISSUES sometimes

Oh God TERF bitch is messaging me saying how much I upset her. I said maybe you should direct your comments to actual trans woman and see how that works out. She said she'd be happy to!

@Cloud I've been hesitant to ask and even more hesitant to google but what exactly is a furry? I've heard of incels but never furries. Is it something to do with a computer game?

Most TERFs are completely hatstand, especially the men.

Thinking that the word cis is an insult is so STUPID and shows such an unwillingness to learn. You can't argue against someone being purposely ignorant

Anybody fancy the challenge?

She's not a monster just ignorant. I'm sadly not best informed in the arguments.

Tell us everything she's said!

Last TERF I knew deleted her Facebook so I didn't have to unfriend, handily. Last time I saw her was at the birthday of a friend whose recently-out trans friend was also there. Sadly we couldn't stick around to see how that went. I imagine she was QUIET AS A MOUSE.

Furries are people who are fans of anthropomorphic animal characters. Some people in a sexual way, but a lot of them are people who just think those types of characters are cool for whatever reason - there are also furries who dress up as characters using fursuits (which basically look like sports mascot characters).

The discourse around it is hilarious

TERFs: "STOP INVENTING WORDS!!!"

Me, an intellectual "It's a Latin prefix, it's been around for a couple of thousand years"

TERFs: ":emoji_astonished:

:emoji_unamused:

:emoji_rage:

STOP INVENTING WORDS!!!"

The "stop inventing words" thing is so fucking stupid. It's always fun to point out that they're tweeting on an iPhone using wi-fi and ask what sense that would have made 20 years ago.

I just find the "snowflake" argument hilarious.

We're the ones open to the changing world around us, and they're the ones scared of embracing it, yet WE'RE the snowflakes.

Okay JAN.
Like literally everything that comes out of these fragile headbangers mouths, it's just projection.

I said it over in another thread re: Diversity's appearance on Britain's Got Talent that got the gammons in a rage...

Terry Brexit, Essex, 8pm watching the news: "Look at all these so-called protesters, bloody snowflakes, is that you lot triggered now ha ha ha, ALL lives matter! now back to your safe spaces, God help us if there's a war..."

Terry Brexit, Essex, 8.30pm, watching BGT: "Pass me the phone Margaret, I do not like this piece of dancing I have chosen to watch"

I used to work with the English department of a university so there were some TERFs there that I didn't add on Facebook for obvious reasons.

One of whom was supposedly the owner of the anonymous twitter account that started JK Rowling's TERF SPIRAL all those years ago :zombie:

Thanks COB.

I'm lying in bed. My cat has now been pummelling my stomach for 20 minutes. He's very dedicated.

I just lay on the bed and mine is doing the same. But he'll have had enough in 10 minutes and instead cuddle me at my side. He's more like a baby than a cat.

I’m on the bus and someone without a mask just breathed on the back of my neck

He's cuddled up by me now. My other hand is wrapped round him.

Listening to some Icelandic minimalist trance possibly from ASFXMAS and feeling very pleased.
