Don’t you live on your own though? SURELY you can’t spend Christmas Day aloneMy mum still wants me to come as she's bought a turkey now![]()

There's no way my mother won't see her grandchildren and great grandchildren at Christmas. It's essentially what has kept her going for months. I imagine plenty of over 70s feel the same.

It’s shit, yes. But I don’t think there is any alternative with this new variant of Coronavirus that has taken everyone by surprise.I mean ultimately we'll stick by the rules. But it's a pretty shitty thing to do so late on. I even bought snacks this morning (and paper plates to reduce contamination!)
This is going to crush me![]()
SHIT. Conflicting reports so far as to whether this is going to affect just the south east and London or the east of England too.
If it’s the latter, then it looks like my Christmas plans are cancelled and it’ll be a third in a row with nowhere to go for me.

I guess they know that SOME people will. And that this may rein in some of the other rule breaking.Tons of people weren't going to follow the 3 household rule and tons won't follow this new rule either. Especially with a last minute change.
Yes. IKR. A friend who lives walking distance from Mr Kate's has invited us over. But Mr Kate's mum lives walking distance from mine so I think he'll still go there. God.Don’t you live on your own though? SURELY you can’t spend Christmas Day alone![]()

Oh for fucks sake . I blame Margate for this round here . Riddled .
I'm very lucky, really. My work life has been largely unaffected by COVID, in as much as I still go out to work every day (I just spend less time at the office), I'm in a relationship so am not alone, and we're also both quite antisocial so the lack of much of a social life hasn't hit me nearly as hard as it has some people.
As much as I had that wobble in October (and although COVID certainly added to my stress levels, it wasn't responsible for that), I know things could have been much worse.
Exactly. All of this "household' rubbish for so long. Some households are 5+ people and the mixing of up to 3 households could have meant 10+ people, whereas in my family 3 households is 3 people.I wonder if they'll have allowances for single people

But I still think had they not announced the 5 day 3 household nonsense in the first place we'd be better off.
