Monday have I ever

Good morning! I'm feeling alright, this is the earliest I've woken up in quite a while :o

Anyway, I have intense FOMO about not being part of the Zoom thing yesterday :(

I popped in briefly and saw KC and Tisch gobbing away, hopefully they weren't slagging me off in my absence.

Back in work. It's still dark and there was absolutely no-one around when I was walking in. :(

It's Bank Holiday today isn't it? I was hoping to get to the supermarket early while no one was there, it'll be packed by 10am.

Supermarkets have been dead round here this time.

Can't believe how dark it is outside still!

We're still at that time where we've had the shortest day, but there's a kind of plateau before you notice the days getting longer. It's bright here, though.

Every year the same for me- I never notice how dark it is until AFTER the longest day. And January feels worse than December in that respect.

I want a dog. I want to call him Woodstock, after Snoopy’s friend. But I would only have a rescue dog and they wouldn’t let me have one in a top floor flat.

Is that because of lack of access to a garden?

Yeah. Apparently they’re very fussy over who gets rescue dogs, which I very much understand to be honest.

Thing is, it would all work out perfectly- my Mum lost her dog just before my Dad died and although she couldn’t look after one permanently, she would love to have a dog around and could happily dogsit if I got one.

Ah well, one day.

We looked into rescue cats before we got these current ones, and some of the agencies are very full on in terms of home visits and rules. Others were a lot more slack. We ended getting those two very young kittens from Bristol and Wales cat rescue, both of who died within about 10 days. That really did burn us, so we ended up just getting them through a friend of a friend.

The cost of dogs is through the roof at the moment too. Lockdown related apparently.

i had intense FOMO too, but it was still going on when I woke up :D
I’m sure I can arrange a private audience with you, Tarty, bring your own tassles

But what's their name going to be? :o
Not sure yet. It's a black cockapoo. My mum's friend had a litter.
K had always said we will get a dog "when the time is right" and we've waited 10 bloody years now. We've been and looked round rescues a few times and everything. So I've not given him a chance to say no this time. I expect him to go full John Wick when we get it though. :D

9:15am on a bank holiday and the boss is messaging us on the work WhatsApp group to ask why we haven't completed some training (that we're expected to do in our own time) and that isn't even due till Jan 4th.

Fuck off.

Ugh I got one from my boss on 23rd telling me to watch some crappy webinar so I said, “sorry I’m at the beach!” - which I was.

Good Morning my darlings. What a FULL ON few days. I slept until 9am today which is simply unheard of for me. Feeling bloated, slightly depressed and wondering what bloody day it is. UGH.

Your boss is a prick. I know this isn't anything you hadn't worked out for yourself but I wanted to voice it.

Sad I missed last night but after 4 days of boozing and an extremely long walk yesterday afternoon with a friend of mine also currently in YORKSHIRE EXILE I was utterly SHATTERED last night.

And we can't seem to rescue one because we have a child, despite the fact I've had dogs all my life, and we had a dog the size of a small cow at the same time as having a new born.

Why has the cost of dogs escalated? Has demand shot up with people being at home a lot more and wanting them, or supply gone down because of breeding?

I read an article about it being a lockdown thing. Presumably, a very large number of people finally looked at their lives and thought "I am now lonely enough that cleaning up animal shit is a viable alternative to staring into the void".
