I thought that was ELLEN
EVIL!
I thought that was ELLEN
I believe this is called poetic justice

I realised ages ago how serious it was but our cases were so low that the hospital coped. But our cases have soared recently. As have everyone's.Which only begs the question, why has it taken you (and many, many others) this long to realise that?

I think islanders have been quite naive to be honest. Our cases have been minimal. Even during the summer with thousands of tourists we had barely any cases. The hospital wasn't even vaguely affected. But then when you're told your tier one and the rest of the country is fucked, it's not really surprising that people get the impression that ANYTHING GOES, is it?
Plus I've not been going out breaking rules. I've been to work and followed all tier rules.
Like I said, we were naive on the island. I mixed with my group of friends, most of whom I work with anyway. And actually apart from Christmas day, I've not socialised with friends since 12th December. I've been off work this week and not left home since Monday. And this is the trouble - I'm not saying it's your fault at all - but just because the tier you're in says you can meet up with people, doesn't mean you should.
Mixed messages from the government as always have screwed people over.

But you can, so you do. That's human nature.Like I said, we were naive on the island. I mixed with my group of friends, most of whom I work with anyway. Exactly the same as here. And I did it myself yesterday. I went shopping just because I could. Admittedly it was the first time I went out in three days at all, and the first time since before Christmas to any shop other than a supermarket. But did I need to? Of course not. I did it because I could.
She dropped some food off to me at work for 10 minutes. I was meant to go to the pub with her but I cancelled. I was only worried because I wasn't sure if it was transmitted on food.Didn't you have a friend you saw on Xmas eve who had now tested positive? How is she doing now?
Most people don't have the fear factor anymore. It was there during the first lockdown but not anymore.Genuine question, does the fear of catching covid not put you off? I literally don't go anywhere unless I have to.
Absolutely this. It was very easy to get complacent and blasé about it. Especially when you're still going to work every day. Most people don't have the fear factor anymore. It was there during the first lockdown but not anymore.
I don't think it helped when we came out of first lockdown too quickly and within weeks the government was encouraging (and subsidising) people to 'eat out to help out'. So it's been a gradual process - partly human nature but really I fully blame the government for where we are, and less so the public.Absolutely this. It was very easy to get complacent and blasé about it. Especially when you're still going to work every day.

For me it's moreso than ever, seeing the longterm effect it's had on people is what scares me. Back in March no one knew about long covid but now you hear people telling their stories and I don't ever want that.
I do agree. And looking back, maybe Mandy and I were stupid to meet up with people. But we felt safe, we felt we were doing what was ok. We were going to work so why shouldn't we see our friends if it was allowed.Agree entirely. And I don't think it's Rachey's fault AT ALL, and apologies if my post suggested such. But it's fucking ridiculous in a world of social media etc. that people in Tier 1 are doing what the fuck they like whilst those in Tier 4 are supposed to just sit and watch. It won't happen.
Genuine question, does the fear of catching covid not put you off? I literally don't go anywhere unless I have to.
I know you didn't ask me, but my head is still in the same place as the original poll. I do not fear catching the virus in the slightest. If I got it, the likelihood is it would have minimal impact, and I'm not worried about passing it on because I don't go anywhere.

Is she a member of a union? Maybe start there?Does anyone know where you can report a business that isn't complying with covid rules?
Mandy worked from home for months. Now her boss won't let them. So there's a factory and office all working together in close proximity. No open windows, no screens, just advised to wear a mask if they go to the toilet![]()
