Speaking of which, I got a bit grumpy in my head earlier when I spotted a small-ish crowd of people chatting on the street.

On closer inspection, they were hanging around a couple of funeral cars.

All we need is for Warwickshire to turn purple and THAT'LL BE BLOCKBUSTERS!

I do wonder if the announcement now of 1000 deaths is because they see it as a tactic to scare people in to thinking “oh shit” whereas last time it felt like they were trying to do everything the could to report them below this figure

what is actually worrying is that we probably only start to see the affects of Christmas mixing from today (for those who broke those rules) :(

It’s scary as over the last week I’ve only seen an increase in social media posts and replies from Covid skeptics spreading misinformation, all proclaiming that they’re insisting on taking their children to school, refusing to wear a mask etc.

Why are people so THICK?

lol at the thought of them being that clever.

I have to say the set up today was fantastic. I was in and out in about 25 minutes, and that includes the 15 minutes I had to sit waiting to see if I went into anaphylaxis or whatever.

I think that's largely because of the venue it was done in though - it's a community hub which was a secondary school prior to that. So the vaccinations were done in what was the main school hall, and the 15 minute wait done in the dining room right next door, with multiple exits to allow an easy one way system. It was marvellously well organised. I suspect those venues trying to get thousands of people in daily through buildings a lot smaller will struggle.

I've volunteered to see if I can help on Friday in anyway, but was told they probably have things covered in the venue, but I may be called upon to try to monitor and direct the car parking a little more effectively.

Ah that's great @lolly , were you scheduled to have it or was it a last minute thing?
I expected that I would hear something today, but not that it would be necessarily done today. Early this morning I was told they were anticipating having enough to do me tomorrow, but then this afternoon one of the GPs told me they could do me today if I could get over there straight away, so I did.

When my head drops off later it'll be my own fault for not deciding to wait and watching lots of YouTube experts to make an informed decision tonight :(

Oh congrats @lolly ! Do we have any other vaxed moopers?

I think I’ll get a vaccine but not by February (asthma).

I’ve not heard anything about how they’re testing the vaccinated for antibodies. I know they can’t test everyone but are we to assume they’ll be doing random tests to see how it works?

I also wonder if we’ll ever hear if anyone gets sick after having the vaccine. You have to assume there will be exceptions to the success of the vaccination and it’s how the media handles that.

So many questions still.

Do you need a negative test before getting the vaccine? Like you shouldn’t ever have the flu jab if you have any cold like symptoms?

They just asked me if I'd tested positive or had symptoms in the last 7 (I think) days.

Ugh these reports about the SA variant being resistant to antibodies from the original strain. NOT GOOD NEWS :(

My local ward apparently has such an outbreak, they're putting in a couple of walk in test centres, for anyone to go.

Might go get me a test, I feel like I've been missing out.

My council are doing test centres for anyone without symptoms. I’m not supposed to get one cos of my trial though.

Yeah that's what i meant - for everyone, with symptoms or not.

I mean it's probably going to make infection rates look even worse in our area, but evs.

Oh I wonder if my council are doing the same thing

It's not even the city council doing it for the whole area. It's literally just my ward - maybe about 600 houses worth. We're clearly not doing well :D

So, who's clapping for our heroes again tonight? :eyes: The novelty very quickly wore off when we did it last summer, it's even less appealing this time around when it's cold and dark. Annemarie Plas, the founder, is being torn apart on Twitter for suggesting it.

I’m sure NHS nurses/doctors would appreciate it MORE if people just stayed the fuck inside and wore a mask when they weren’t rather than standing on their doorsteps with POTS AND PANS.

Are you in Wandsworth Kate?

I need to look to book one so I can get on my flight, so I'm hoping there is one close.

I’m sure my neighbours who clapped every week whilst having regular house parties and extended family gatherings will be out in force tonight.

No, Hammersmith & Fulham. Apparently they are the lateral flow ones too with results texted to you within 45 minutes. I don't know if you have to prove you live in the borough though.
