Supermarkets now saying people will not be allowed in without a mask unless medically exempt.

1) Weren't they fucking doing that ALREADY?
2) How are they going to check whether someone is genuinely exempt?

1 no, they were letting people wander in willy nilly. Same with not expecting them to hand sanitise either

All I can think is that supermarkets will now have someone on the door ASKING people if they are exempt now. Those people will then mutter I'M EXEMPT and they will be let in as usual.
 
Back at ASDA LONGSIGHT they always had security guards looking you UP AND DOWN when you went into the store but never asked why people weren’t wearing masks.
 
I presume they’ll ask for a doctors note or something? But I’d have thought that not every exempt person would have one?
 
I have thankfully managed to avoid shops most of the time, but I honestly thought they were doing that already :zombie:

At my grocery store, the only person NOT wearing a mask is the cop at the door :manson:

GPs are not going to issue notes to everyone asking for them. They are rather busy at the moment.

We have this 'arguement' with people several times a day, it's so exhausting. Basically though if they say they're exempt, that's it there's nothing else we can do. You can't ask for proof, you can't refuse service. On Sunday there was a family of 4 all saying they're exempt, and then they all wanted to go into the small unventilated room together. When we refused the latter they started saying how we were breaking up a family/ human rights etc nonsense.
 
And surely for those with respiratory problems would a visor not be an alternative to a face covering?
 
What condition would actually stop someone from wearing a mask? I don’t think I know anyone who is legitimately unable to, for the time in a store at least
 
if you're medically exempt from wearing a mask, probably all the more reason to wear something else like a visor!! daft cunts

I'm pretty sure I caught mine food shopping too...
 
Worryingly I’ve just seen an article that a nurse tested positive for covid a day after he was supposed to get his second vaccination (which they cancelled)

now obviously he could be in that 5% where the vaccination just wouldn’t work for him anyway but I really feel if more of these stories emerge then it will undermine the whole principle behind getting a vaccination in the first place

Is that particularly worrying? A vaccination surely doesn't immediately destroy the entirety of the virus if infected, does it?
 
Is it worrying? Both vaccines offer 95% protection. The first one takes 2-3 weeks to give some immunity. 2.5 million people have been vaccinated, yes there will be A LOT of people who get Covid in the 3 weeks after their vaccine, given nearly 1 In a 100 people get it every week. The problem is the media blowing up every single case, when actually 10 of thousands of instances of this happening are to be expected.

I think it IS worrying in that it undermines the message, and if more stories emerge it won't do a hell of a lot to convince the significant part of the population who are sceptical of the vaccine in the first place

Asthma is the most common one the young people use. I had a 24 year old who couldn't wear a mask yesterday because of asthma. Yet I also had a 64 year old with COPD for who wearing a mask was difficult, but not impossible, and she did so for the 20 mins she was with me.

The young are far by the worst.

I agree. I hope stories like that don't get so much air time, because they are very much the minority
 
Omg my mum just tried to tell me AGAIN that she DEFINITELY had Covid in December 2019 and that she isn’t sure if she wants a vaccine :zombie: Yet she only shops at 9pm, and only twice a month, and fully disinfects her trolley each time in case she gets it and moans at people not in masks. Where do you even begin there?

It’s a real bizarre sense of baseless superiority/exceptionalism grounded in ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! She knows better than the WHO when she’s convinced she had it before it was in the UK*, she knows better than scientists who spent a year developing/testing the vaccine, and she also knows better than the people not wearing masks even though this DIRECTLY contradicts her scepticism of the vaccine?!?

Nome of what she says is grounded in any rational thought!! It’s driving me mad.

*I know there were a handful of cases in the UK in 2019 but I really doubt she was one of them
 
I actually love cooking and we only have a takeaway once every few weeks but STILL.
