It is said that having the side effects shows your immune system is working.

I don't know if lack of side effects means it isn't working though and wouldn't like to scare anyone who's had an easy jab into thinking they're not safe. But I do understand the side effects to be a form of reassurance at least :)

I was shivering like it was -5 all night and felt like shit. Happy days.
 
Ended up getting a family friend giving me the vaccine so she chatted to me for about 10 minutes before actually pricking me. She came out as gay in the process.

The people in the queue must have loved me.

Officially Pfizered up! Second is in July a few days before I hopefully get to Portugal for a wedding.

It's been seeing bigger and bigger daily increases for the past couple of weeks and has gone kind of nuts over the past few days relatively speaking

Oddly from the Zoe app, cases are way up in Melton Mowbray of all places.

I only checked this last night because my odd flatmate exclaimed to me that she heard "some city beginning with M may not be having their restrictions lifted next week", to which I was genuinely intrigued so asked her to elaborate where this was and where she heard it, so she YELLED at me "OH I DON'T KNOW, I JUST HEARD IT". Found Melton Mowbray's cases on the app but no evidence whatsoever in the news about them going into some kind of separate Tier 1 lockdown... so she huffed and puffed out of the room and gave me the silent treatment just because I questioned her weird, uninformed "news".

Oh I know someone like that who also isn't showing antibodies; I don't think that's a cause of concern for the general population though.

Could she have been referring to Moray in Scotland? They announced yesterday that they won't be getting the same relaxation as the rest of Scorland.

She was adamant that it was in England. She regularly half hears something in passing, puts 2 and 2 together and comes up with 10, then repeats what she thinks she heard without the slightest intrigue to look it up to confirm and then gets angry when it's questioned. She should really work for The Sun.
 
My mum had her 2nd jab today and my 39-year-old brother, whose autism regularly gets him sucked in by QAnon and other stupid internet cunts, went along to watch and is now happy to let her book him in for his. Phew all round.

Just called 119. Lady just said there was a fault with some people and they’re just using the site itself to book over the phone for people with no internet access. She said I’ll have to wait another 4-5 days for the system to reset and be included.

Have the people that are getting the Indian variant of Covid been vaccinated? I am hearing of whispers here and there that people are not ending up hospitalised after vaccination but why on EARTH is information on it so hard to come by?
 
After the email advising me to cancel my AZ appointment today cancelled and got Pfizer next week. :shy: I know there’s more chance catching it in that extra week of reduced immunity and the risks from that far outweigh AZ side effects though OH WELL. I’d almost prefer if they just jabbed us and didn’t say what it IS
 
I am still registered at the GP by my house that I lived in 9 years ago. Proof I am invincible.
 
So it turns out I’ve officially been de-registered from my surgery and that could be a reason I can’t get a vaccination appointment. What’s most irritating is that I was still registered at the same place related to my Dad’s address simply because after I left home, I moved 5 times in 6 years including moving back home for a while so never really bothered registering anywhere else because I never really settled.

tried registering locally but they’re all in-person only and “closed”, but my actual historical surgery has online registration and they told me to re-register, which I have done now, using my old address against better judgment. No idea how long that will take.

But what about the thousands of people in this country who have never registered with a doctor? I deal with a lot of people at work who were new UK residents and never did despite being here for up to 10 years. It’s personally irresponsible on all our parts, yes, but surely you should still be eligible for the vaccine, especially if you do have an NHS number.

Ellie, that sounds awful. Like I was saying to dmlaw, I would see if I can find an open vaccination call, cos there have been loads in Manchester, and get yourself vaccinated that way.

I'm having a somewhat similar dilemma here - due to my work-residence situation, I have health insurance in Germany as well as Austria. I have been offered an AZ jab in Austria next week while waiting for an offer in Germany (should come in by the end of this month, guaranteed to be Pfizer/Moderna). Obviously, with Pfizer/Moderna, I would be completely vaccinated by early July at the latest - with AZ that wouldn't be the case until mid-August.

In addition, the rules for vaccinated people in Germany and Austria are different. In Germany, you are vaccinated a week after your second jab whereas in Austria you are already considered vaccinated 21 days after your first jab.

So right now, it's a matter of weighing up between waiting for another week or two for a Pfizer jab (and potential exposure in these two weeks but that is close to zero in my case) or getting an AZ jab across the border pretty much immediately. But since I live In Germany and still work primarily in home-office, the benefits of getting the earlier jab in Austria don't really apply to me. On the flip side, I'm having a bit of a bad conscience about possibly playing the waiting game here since I do believe that everyone who is offered a vaccination should take it when it becomes available.

I think it's extremely irresponsible of NHS surgeries de-registering people without contacting or attempting to contact them. I've never been invited for anything and yes, I should have followed it up, but what if all of a sudden there was an emergency that wouldn't be an ER visit and may need a referral to a cancer specialist or something? You'd do that through your GP.

I must say my past experience with GPs has always been that of 'We're prioritising our elderly regulars and young people coming in for things that aren't life threatening are rushed in and out as quickly as possible, sometimes refusing them appointments". That's mostly why I gave up and let things clear up on their own.

Hmm, i've not had a confirmation e-mail from the NHS after i made my booking. And i didn't write down my reference number. Whoops.
 
I got de-registered as well @Ellie, just because it took me a few months to respond to their texts asking me to book a smear - because there was a fucking pandemic on! Then I tried to re-register online but they claimed they never received my stuff :rolleyes: so I moved to a different surgery around the corner from them.

However, my local vaccination centre are doing walk-ups, so there might be one near you that does too. Or if you can be arsed to come to Hammersmith :D

I have also not had an e-mail confirmation, although I did write down my reference number. Have you tried to going back onto the booking system to get your reference? It should know that you're already booked in so you might be able to get the reference from that.

Checked locally and there aren't any for walk-ups. My friend in Richmond said there's one in Brentford, but Hammersmith is actually more convenient. Where is that?

I found a list of the walk-ins... seems to be a N/W London thing.

Yeah tried that. I couldn't find a human amongst all the automation.

I'm sure it's fine anyway. I've seen stories of people not having them and getting through.
