A Song For SuomiFrid: The Final (CLOSING DATE: FRIDAY 2nd JULY 18:59pm)

I hate to say it, but the basic schlager/eurovision adjacent songs are the ones that are sounding the best for me now.

I nearly considered Jane Weaver. I have to ask, and I'll assume this is allowed, but to whoever did send that why didn't they send the subtle disco vibes of Solarised instead?! It would have done a zillion times better. Like, at least 3 places higher

Sorry to the language police, by schlager I meant Melodifestivalen.

This is 10x better tbh.

I have received an anonymous statement in response to this comment. Anonymous to you all, but not to me as obviously their identity cannot be revealed.

I didn't hear that new Jane Weaver song until after I'd entered mine and then when I did hear it I was like ** ***** [cannot be repeated before 9pm, will edit then]

Although I think the one I chose is more DIFFERENT from the other entries so swings and roundabouts

Speaking of other songs by 6 Music faves in ASFM, Katy J Pearson's latest video was directed by JOE LYCETT. The song isn't any more interesting, but at least Joe knew to keep her CAMEL TOE out of shot.

Remember when I sent Goliath and it was so iconic that Charlotte Perrelli covered it as her Melfest entry the following month?

Ugh I was in the gym the other day and heard the aerobics class for seniors were working out to it.

The only one that was close to that was my first entry, Sweet true lies, but remember you said...

Right :eyes:

Remembering that it was bad is not the same thing as remembering the exact song.

I saw that yesterday when I was having a moment to KJP. I did wonder if it was THE Joe Lycett :o

Who knew he’d branched out into directing music videos!

They had them both on for a chat the other week. They became pals over lockdown or something.

I WILL NOT STAND for this Sweet True Lies bashing and neither will @ButterTart once he's finished bashing Solange.
Sweet True Lies gave me the confidence to send bawdy rock nonsense I’d otherwise never have dared to send :disco:

Also I’m going to stop bashing Regina Solange because there’s a poster behind that terrible song and they might be upset at my brutal campaign of accuracy.

I don't remember there being such a big a favourite as the Tina Arena one before, normally we have a few options. What else is in the running?

I wouldn't mind one of those Real Housewives of Eastern Europe type entries to be honest, basic be damned.

I'm QUITE TORN with Eva - the synthy bits are lovely but the souky Eurovisiony bits are NOT.

There’s one song that I had literally zero recollection of which ended up getting a ton of points from me. The moral of the story is that anything is possible.

I love how you all keep targeting songs claiming they're the favourite to win :D

Is Tina Arena winning this?

Quite a few of the acts seem a little too well known this time around.

That song about Chains was the big single from the soundtrack of my twink summer of 1995. I haven’t actively heard anything else by Tina Arena since then.
