Thursday: The Remix Album (OUT FRIDAY)

I've been out two school nights on the bounce and now our office is doing some sort of free cocktails and music thing at 5 so I'm almost certainly going to that. It all feels so weird after all of life being on hold for so long, but I'm here for it.

AFTERNOON EGGS

I'm going camping tomorrow. Which might be the first time i've ever been camping outside of a festival or in friend's back gardens as a kid.

FOR FUN

Dunno really. Didn't get into any festivals this year that need camping and i miss drinking and sleeping in a field. Seemed like a good idea when i booked it.

I find it fun. When its warm.

Off to Bridgnorth for a few days :disco:

Do they still have the funicular railway that goes up and down the cliff from hightown to lowtown? It used to terrify me so much I'd happily walk up instead.

My mum and dad used to have a caravan at Hampton Loade, it was just a pub in a field (Unicorn Inn) with the river Severn running along the bottom, I spent most summer weekends there. The landlord of the pub had fishing rights on that portion of the river so he made his money charging fishermen to keep their caravans on the field and they could fish for free all season. That pub is how my alcohol bingeing began. They also found a murdered girl's body caught up in the trees at the river edge in the corner of the field in the late '80s.

Googling the Unicorn Inn and murdered girls of Bridgnorth as we speak. We’ve not been in to town yet but I’ll keep an eye out for the funicular.

It’s two miles away from me!

Last time I went was 1994. I know that the landlord died years ago so don't go in and ask for Ken or people will get upset! It was a short walk from the pub to Hampton Loade station (Severn Valley steam trains) and we used to get the train into Bridgnorth. There used to be a ferry across the Severn too that was literally a raft attached to an overhead cable. When you wanted to cross you went to the ferry and pressed a doorbell on a post and a toothless granny from the house nearby used to come out and push it over with a big pole. It was 20p for a return trip, 15p one way. The only other place we used to go was Highley but that was only to go to the supermarket, Highley was full of yokels. Chelmarsh reservoir used to be a nice walk too.

Hi

Been gardening all day. Everything hurts and now we're going out.

I donwanna.

During flooding on Sunday 13 December 1964 at 3.25 PM the ferry sank drowning the operator and caused inconvenience for the hamlet residents who had to take detours

I think it may have inconvenienced the ferry operator more….

The poor operator was clearly disposable :D

The detour, if the ferry wasn't running, is a good few miles round country lanes, past a stinking pig farm too, rather than the thirty feet across the river.

Oh lovely! Let me know the details and I'll bring the marshmallows. We can sit round the campfire toasting them and singing kum by yah.
