Ever since I went on their website to get a picture for A Song For Mopsyfestivalen, Cheadle Village Hall keep contacting me on Facebook asking how they can help

I think you KNOW how you can help![]()
We should definitely hold a MoopMeet there. The festive bail-out has begun in here. Barely a bugger in the place. Net result: busy.
The only solution is to distract Suomi by having the DJ play nothing other than a slightly foxed cassingle of 'Wolves of the Sea'.We should definitely hold a MoopMeet there.
“No Mr Tartine, you’re not getting your deposit back. Someone drilled holes into all of the cubicle walls and the cellar was filled with dead hostages.”
Hello, I’ve managed to get a GP appointment this morning
feels like I’ve WON THE LOTTERY!![]()
Of all the great things @Suomi has accomplished in his time on Moopy, it will be this one act of evil that will be his enduring legacy. The only solution is to distract Suomi by having the DJ play nothing other than a slightly foxed cassingle of 'Wolves of the Sea'.
Well I’m not on DEATH’S DOOR which is nice to know.Congrats hunni

Sick or skiving?
Have we seen the new advice re sick leave and sick/fit notes?

Taking sick leave
Fit notes (formerly sick notes), holiday during sick leave, returning to work, long-term sick, dismissalswww.gov.uk
Hmmm. I mean, sensible as it lightens the GP workload but also unlike the Tories to want to do that.
We should definitely hold a MoopMeet there.

Worst thing to happen for small businesses though. Prior to this you could only swing a week's sick before having to have a GP agree that you were unfit for work. Now there'll be a shitload of 3 weeks and 4 days off and the employer can't do a thing about it or even claim back the SSP any more.
Hello moopie. Seasons greetings.
Moopy I need advice.
One of the girls we've employed, was taken on to work until October. Her contract ended 31st. She's still with us because it's been busy but we haven't as yet renewed her contract because we had no idea what hours we could offer and didn't want to commit to something we couldn't provide.
Mandy also didn't want to give her a zero hour contract cos she thinks they're shitty.
So we've been giving this girl 20 ish hours a week.
Her 18 yr old stepson who she lives with has just tested positive for covid and altho she is vaccinated, none of the staff want to risk working with her this close to Christmas.
So, we've suggested she stays off work which she's happy to do.
But do we need to pay her sick pay, even tho she's not sick, should we pay her normal hours as we've asked her to stay home, although technically she's not contracted to any hours. Or shall we suggest she can make up the hours next month so she doesn't lose out?
That's what we're thinking. But at the same time we're also worrying about the business losing money at an already difficult time.Welcome to the world of employing people. I don't know exactly what the rules would be in this situation, but personally, I would just pay her for the next week based on what she earns, on average. Its Christmas, she has kids, bills to pay etc. Imagine how hard it would be to know you've just lost your income the week before Christmas?
We're providing two weeks sick pay, she's already had 2 days, so I guess in that case we just pay her sick pay?I'm not actually certain on this, but I think where a fixed term contract like this isn't formally renewed then the employment continues on the same basis as under the contract, with the main difference that either party could end the contract without notice at any time. Isolating after having been a contact with someone who has Covid does count as a sickness, so you would probably have to pay either SSP, if she's entitled to it, or whatever other arrangement the contract has for sick pay. Unless, as ron says, you want to be nice/can afford to be nice and pay her the normal wage.

That's good! I've lost 4 weeks wages this year because of covid. Is it not normal to give sick pay to staffYou give your staff 2 weeks sick pay per year? That's good! I've lost 4 weeks wages this year because of covid.
Although using up her sick days might rub her up the wrong way if you've asked her to take the time off?
Is it not normal to give sick pay to staff
It's either sick pay or no pay. I can't be too generous, I do have a business to run. But yeah I do get what you mean. I'm so conflicted!
I suppose sick pay is the better of the two options. It's worth getting some sort of covid clause written into your contracts, we had the same issued with work and nursery last year.It always surprises me when people don't get sick pay. I just assumed it was standard. No I think its normal, my bosses are the exceptionI suppose sick pay is the better of the two options. ARE WE DOING A XMAS ZOOM MOOPMEET?
Looks like I'll be spending most of my two weeks at home! And that excess alcohol won't drink itself.
Help a brother out, mopsy
, but have to think about the business as well.
So when you were off did you just get statutory sick pay?Absolutely, and we've learnt covid isn't going away, so I think it's better just to be clear about where you stand if they have time off because of it.
