I think all of this fantasising about his demise is just that... fantasy. If he were really sick, then his inner circle would know, and would probably have incapacitated him by now. The fact that they don't shows just how much everyone around him is still scared of him, and see his survival as likely.

I am kinda fascinated by the idea of Putin being a messy deadbeat dad with months of unpaid child support and a Tik Tok account talking shit about about his 3 baby mamas
 
i just can't wrap my head around the scale of the unfolding events. apparently, 1.5 million people displaced so far...

does anyone have anything useful to read on the future of russia? it's looking pretty bleak for putin right now and i wonder if/what meaningful change can happen there.

it's a bit did this so we did that, but i agree there needs to be a recalibration of the world order - the un is useless, the imf and the world bank seem like archaic villains at this point.

i know it's an incredibly naive thing to say, but i wonder what a world without borders could look like.
 
i only discovered mearsheimer recently (his talk on liberal hegemony has certainly coloured the way i think about the war and liberalism overall) thanks to his newfound online popularity, but i think he sums up what is happening pretty well in these 6 minutes.

I’m in Budapest at the moment and was just casually informed by my friend as I walked out the door this morning that they’ll be testing the air raid signals at 11. 😬

We have this at 3 pm today and there has been warnings about it all week. I bet some will still panic.

I wondered the other day if we still had air raid sirens. I can't imagine a more terrifying sound to be honest.

Yes, it’s a scheduled thing (normally called Hoarse Fredrik) and occurs at 3 pm on first Monday of March, June, September and December every year.
 
As much as I'd love for him to die, if he knows then surely that makes it all the more dangerous that he could think "well I'm dying anyway" and take the rest of the world with him.
 
I imagine there are a number of steps between Putin wanting to nuke the entire world as part of a nihilistic death wish and it actually happening. There isn’t a BIG RED BUTTON on his desk that says KILL ALL HUMANS.
