I've decided to watch the last week's episodes for nostalgia reasons. It's so odd.

Karl has gone bald :o

It's weird seeing everyone in it again, makes me quite emotional because Home & Away and Neighbours were such a huge part of my childhood.

The flashbacks are good.

I was surprised that I still recognised Malcolm Kennedy and even more surprised he’s shagging Susan’s nemesis.

The "everybody is selling up all at the same time" is CONTRIVED. Especially the poor new family who had the misfortune of being cast mere weeks before the cancellation announcement - they don't even get their own storyline, just an out-of-nowhere comment about how the market is "HOT HOT HOT"


Also loving the idea that it's very easy to immediately get permanent visas to America, even if you were only released from prison the week prior for manslaughter


Is it wrong to find Mal more attractive as a 50 year old than ever as a floppy-haired 20-something? :shy:
 
With all the returnees between tomorrow and Friday they will be lucky to get half a line each.
 
The airtime is already hugely thinly-spread

The lesbians breaking up in a 20 second scene, after it took them six long months to get together

Terese spending the best part of a year hating Paul's guts (and for very good reason), and now a single 5-second glimpse of him as a not-dead-ghost and she's back in love

I get the reasons why everything is now rushed - but I think any viewers only just rejoining for the last week are going to get a pretty dire impression of Neighbours' writing and production standards.
 
They should have just had a big street party, and someone plants a bomb and kills them all. Simple and effective.
 
What is actually going on? Everyone seems to be buying a house or selling house or buying a business or selling a business.

Why is Toadie a lawyer? And why is he marrying an old woman?

I just watched Monday and Tuesday's and have no idea. Obviously it all comes across terrible but I suspect that's how it ever was nostalgia aside. Although this is clearly messier than usual.

Older Malcolm Kennedy is quite something :horny:
 
I do not see the appeal in older Malcolm Kennedy at all. That awful hair!
 
I'm really enjoying it (and the Susan / Izzy storyline is genuinely good) but they could have blown the ones we don't care about up weeks ago (Family Affairs style).

And yes :D at the new family being disposed of with that HOT HOT HOT line but I think finding fault in this final week is missing the point.

The flashbacks are really gorgeous.

I reckon it's definitely going that way.

Clive being called by Sheila (his ex) seems a definite sign that he and Jane won't be reuniting.

God I hope Sheila isn't coming back. She was the WORST.

I was a bit agog at anyone assuming that a woman of around 50 would have a grandmother still alive.

And have we really seen the last of Amy already - the 'oh she's fled to Cairns' line is IT for her?

I really hope not. In a way, I kind of like the idea of not everyone getting a sickly sweet happy ending. But there are other characters much more deserving of that fate (e.g. Paul absolutely does not deserve to win Terese back).

I'm banking on a flimsy last minute twist where she returns in a polyamorous marriage with Lance, Lou and Dorothy Burke.
 
I haven't watched an episode in decades, but I'm probably going to have to binge watch some from this final week to try and at least understand what's going on before tuning in on Friday for the finale. When did Sophie Simpson from 'Home and Away' move to Ramsay Street?!? I thought she was in Perth.
 
Gosh the episodes feel very rushed. I thought they had months to prepare for this.

Joel (I don't know how I remember him) was in an out in a matter of minutes.

I'm not sure watching any before the final episode will help you understand any more - it's pretty batshit already and I think you just need to go with it.

But I'm guessing a lot of the returnees will not be in the final episode at all, so there's some you could miss.
 
Also since her comeback, has Jane always been written as the resurrection of Nell Mangel? I know she was her grandaughter but they've basically turned her into her grandmother.

It's also probably a bit too much to wish for the ghost of Daphne to pop up, but that would be lovely. I'm not so bothered about Scott or Charlene to be honest. I know that's heresy in certain circles, but there we go.
