Taylor Swift - Midnights (new album out Oct. 21)

Swifties are convinced that Speak Now is the next re-recording based on the Bejeweled video.

I have very mixed feelings about the constant easter eggs. On the one hand, it's a sign of someone who can put fun and creativity into even the dullest parts of the process, on the other, this kind of stuff attracts nutters and it's only a matter of time before someone comes to the conclusion that these messages are personal to them and then it's dangerous.

current best to worst, with the caveat that various songs are growing on me immensely with each play - today it's Labyrinth and Karma

11 Maroon
10 Anti-Hero
10 You're on Your Own, Kid
09 Labyrinth
08.5 Mastermind

08.5 Karma
08 Snow on the Beach
08 Sweet Nothing
07.5 Midnight Rain
07 Lavender Haze
06.5 Vigilante Shit
06 Question...?

Lavender Haze is such a weird non-event of an opening track. Sweet Nothing is just lovely.

Now, where was that post you called me out for about everyone losing their shit in 5 plays' time? :D

I considers Swifties and Swiffers to be two separate groups. Swiffers are the more desirable of the groups, the one to whom you can say "I mean, there are a few duffers on 'Reputation', no?" and not have your eyes gouged out.

I'm such a sucker for a lullaby and I'm so into Sweet Nothing right now. stripped of many of Jack's more prominent production tics, all focus on her voice (not drenched in reverb)... it's beautiful. upgrading to a 9.

Lavender Haze is not bad in the IFYE sense. it's just... a non event.

I need to reshuffle and work in a couple of the 3am tracks to make my own superior tracklist

she's really not in good voice here

i'm not convinced I need to see Taylor live

Midnights is falling neatly into her catalogue for me. I find it on an equal footing to most of her work from Red onwards. But I'll always be waiting for the next folklore/evermore, I expect.

now we have a great album.

I honestly love this album so much .. and I’ve only ever been a casual listener . This somehow touched a nerve that hasn’t been touched since Magic Still Exists

great support acts. still unconvinced I want to see Taylor in a stadium (I think an intimate show would be much more up my street) but I may take out a mortgage to see her in Europe.

Also “eras” is kind of stretching it visually and musically for her but I don’t want to risk the wrath of Swiffers

My idea for MADONNA was Finally Enough LOVE : Tour

SEGMENT 1: 80s
SEGMENT 2: 90s
SEGMENT 3: 00s
SEGMENT 4: 10s & 20s (won't be on until gone midnight and the songs from that era are shit anyway so people can go get the last bus/tube home etc.)

omg honey no, the concept is fire but she would have to do it the OTHER way around so people can leave late! *opens with Bday Song/Medellin mash up and ends the show with Like A Prayer/Open your heart/Lucky star medley to end everyone*

the album is slowly growing on me as i had expected. The Great War and Would've Could've Should've are my fave bonus tracks from her after right where you left me.

Yeah, some of the tracks take a few listens to really unlock - Maroon took a few for me, as did Mastermind.

I;ve only heard the bonus tracks once, I'll revisit them over the weekend, I think.

I'm three plays in and currently it's been washing over me, but unlike CERTAIN POSTERS, that isn't enough to make me dismiss it yet.
