I really don't understand what they were thinking with a lot of these bookings. We got David Hasselhoff on one of this week's episodes.
 
Oh how I loved Lena Fiagbe's Gotta Get It Right. Not sure I've heard it before this side of the millennium though.

I have no memory of "Ace Of Spades" being a hit. Magic. Lemmy was a one-off.

Pet Shop Boys - Go West. Love this - they nailed the balance of euphoria and melancholy perfectly.
 
Oh! Creep! I saw Radiohead on this tour and they were already playing "The Bends" - they were great fun. They gave no indication that they would go above the Wonder Stuff/Carter USM level at this time, however.
 
The diversity of this epsiode - Motorhead. Pet Shop Boys. Radiohead. And now US soul with Jade.
 
...and now Jamaican reggae! Chaka Demus & Pliers. Oddly bland this, compared to Tease Me. Much more foursquare.
 
Don't remember this Belinda Carlisle tune. I'd want a track called Big Scary Animal to have a bit more...bite.
 
The Wonder Stuff going all serious and looking deeply unhappy. They split during the UK tour for this album and you can kind of see it in them here, I think. It's far more earnest than they'd been before. Not necessarily bad but it's a tonal shift. Check shirts, long shorts, combat trousers. Hmmm.

Condemnation was a slightly odd choice for a single but Dave Gahan's vocal on it is absolutely magnificent. IIRC, he feels that's about all he brought to that album but he's being hard on himself.

I'd forgotten about the "men can't find the clitoris" line in Moving On Up. Nice.
 
How many weeks do we have to tolerate L*lu? My memory tells me "Relight My Fire" was pretty huge.
 
I don't remember Gabrielle's follow-up at all but it's actually not bad - great live vocal, for sure. Not sure why she's on TOTP in her nightie tho'.
 
Frankie's "Relax" will always be a nailed on banger. Was this just off a successful Greatest Hits or something? I don't recall.
 
"Roses In The Hospital" - such a brilliant, brilliant song. Nicky Wire was on his honeymoon so they got their lankiest roadie to wear a mask and fill in! James Dean Bradfield was an amazing singer - he still is, even if age has taken a toll.
 
Is this our first sighting of Eternal? They look great - the choreography was a bit much tho'.
 
Paul Young had an actual chart-climbing hit in 1993? Blimey. His voice sounds shot here, mind you.
 
Go West dripping their slushy way through the exceptional "Tracks Of My Tears"? No thanks.
 
Crowded House always a funny one for me. They have some songs I like, one or two I love and a whole chunk I couldn't hum if my life depended on it. Yet, I've never grudged them their success. They always seemed like perfectly normal people. I remember feeling oddly moved when Paul Hester died too.

I always really liked "Into Your Arms" above most Lemonheads stuff. Then I discovered Evan Dando didn't write it and I thought well that'll be it then.
 
One of my friends used to have the horn for Evan Dando big time. I never saw it at the time.
 
I remember a lot of press hype around One Dove but this is pretty lightweight. I remain well disposed towards Dot Allison tho'.

My sister and several of her pals did too. He was longhaired, doe-eyed and played guitar in a band so he was beating them off with a shitty stick.
