What is general studies?
Yeah good questionWhat is general studies?
You don't decide it really till the next year when you're applying to University. Your course doesn't normally require specific subjects but they care more about your grades. This honestly doesn't seem like a great system. 16 is too young to decide your future
It's also the age of consent! You can decide to have an holamibébébéThis honestly doesn't seem like a great system. 16 is too young to decide your future

you learn about general things, like this, and also that. education can be micro but it can also be... macro. generally speaking. What is general studies?
Big up DOUBLE MATHS CLUB![]()
ELASTICITY!

Oh so it’s everythingGeneral Studies is the study of just about everything. My teachers decided it was basically unteachable because they could never guess what the questions might be about.
The exams ended up just being a broad exercise in making rational arguments for both sides of a debate.
I didn't attend classes. I got an A.
Or, if you're actually bored and interested: https://www.ocr.org.uk/images/73471-specification.pdf
Looking at my list of AP classes, I literally use none of them at work. Not that I regret them, they’re all things that are worthwhile to knowAnd also, yeah, the point of not knowing what you want to do later in life, having a wider range of qualifications seems more sensible than focusing on a few at 16
Idk about the UK but it's not like you're ever going to work on whatever it is you studied anyways. This honestly doesn't seem like a great system. 16 is too young to decide your future
I always hated English in school (mainly because our GCSE teacher was a horrid bitch)
WELL GUESS WHAT, MIMI
Now I’m an English teacher

I *think* we got an AS level in all three subjects in Year 12 and then the full A-Level in Year 13.aren’t some of the younger Moopers (not sure how young) from the AS Level years? I gather you do more AS levels in year 12(?) and keep some of those for year 13?

I have the supply and demand curve etched in my brainI forgot but I also did Psychology for two weeks which I dropped in favour of Economics. It was awful and I think many people from my school saw it a "doss" choice. Economics was much better, and although I didn't carry on with it, the absolute basics of it I still use in everyday thought.
Please expandI'm quite surprised by who some of the Mathsy Sciency Moopers are versus some of the Englishy Gay ones.

Apoca makes sense as being down the middle.

barnacle: "he's giving... english lit student, with a dash of the social sciences"I had Diddy down as English and maybe something like Sociology. Though you are very logically minded.
I knew DC is something medical so you're not a surprise.
RJN I was sure was something humanities-based.
Apoca makes sense as being down the middle.
Alex and Maths is a nice surprise.
barnacle: "he's giving... english lit student, with a dash of the social sciences"
other gays: "i think he's a BOTTOM!"
Oh so it’s everything
"Apoca makes sense as being down the middle" read like "So you vers, right?" to me, I won't lie.
Dom top energyI knew DC is something medical so you're not a surprise.
Business studies and English literature.
I don't feel like either have benefited me in life.
And not once have my A level skills come into practice. Everything I've put towards the business I've learned through previous jobs. I don't even remember what I learned in my A Levels. You literally run a business.
That is what I ended up doing in university. In high school, I wasn't sure what career I wanted, but I knew that I was good at math and geography (and not great at writing) so I. chose based on thatRJN I was sure was something humanities-based.
Biology
English Literature
French
I also did Psychology for AS which I would have done at A level but we only had the option to do it at AS level. Looking back I have NO idea why I chose Biology![]()
