Artists You Should Like But Don't

Yeah, Debbie's solo work is very patchy. She has had her moments though. I love the ART DIRECTION for Koo Koo, but I'm not wild on the music for the most part.

Well, since no one asked:

1. Def, Dumb and Blonde - a great collection of pop songs even if most of it sounds very of its time
2. KooKoo
3. Rockbird
4. Debravation
5. Necessary Evil

I agree with this. The first three are clear in that order, with a defined gap to 4 and 5 which could possibly swap - but there's little between the pair of them.

DD&B is definitely the most "Blondie" of any of them albeit with a late 80s flair. It is produced by Mike Chapman, so that makes sense.

I enjoy the Debravation singles plus "Rain" and "Dog Star Girl". The rest is pretty forgettable but serviceable. Necessary Evil is just drab "Two Times Blue" aside and way too long.

Debbie's album covers are mostly VERY VERY VERY COOL so it makes it even more absurd that this was allowed to happen:

I feel the same way about Nicki Minaj the same way Ag feels about Taylor.

In this case, I haven't been able to separate the artist from their art. While Taylor just comes across as calculated, cold, and cynical, Nicki comes across as rude, aggressive, and unnecessarily bitchy and that's part of what makes me avoid most of her stuff. Even though she's been called out by dozens of people and also she has proven to be a bad person, she still is apparently "the best female rapper in history" o_O O_o o.O O.o
I see her being awarded all the time by all these music magazines and critics but bar a couple of gay club bangers I can't give her my full attention.

Also, Drake is another example where he showed a bit of promise when he just showed up about 12 years ago and it's just been diminishing returns with him and his music. How on Earth do you manage to be more and more successful with each passing year when your music becomes progressively WORSE?
