Kylie - Padam Padam (1st single, May 18th)

I wasn't saying this was a DISASTROUS BMG MARKETING PLOY FFS. Just that it's got to the saturation point that it's just a bit BORING.

Christ, you can't say a word against PADAM without being LAUNCHED ON!
I think any song that goes (a bit) viral, inevitably reaches that point. She hasn't had a song this ubiquitous in an absolute age though.

Of course it was, but there comes a "jump the shark" point or a point of mass market tedium. I feel it's reached the latter when you have This Morning presenters putting an entirely pointless TikTok- focused, marketing department dreamt up video on the interweb just to jump on a bandwagon that is already a few months old.
,

I feel like there may be a huge second coming of them from the US aside from the gays when this impacts US radio which it has already started to do :D

Tell that to the SOCCER MOMS when they hear it on Boston Boost FM!

Great result. Saved by a bunch above hitting ACR, but I’ll take it. A shame they haven’t had a push this week as I feel next week will now be it’s last week on normal ratio unless I’m missing something?

HAAi remix on 21st July alongside possibly others?

I do feel that is a week late though, as this coming week is week nine and it hits ACR next Friday if it doesn’t increase streams after three weeks of falling in them.

But it is so confusing I don’t actually know. There’s something about overall market so it may avoid it if all of Taylors songs and overall streams decrease or something; or because she rose in the chart this week perhaps total songs are down in streams and she is less than the market so she is safe? @lolly may have a bit more of a clue on how it works?

I am happy for her, but I still wish it had happened to something from 'Disco'.

The chart rules refer to the 3 consecutive weeks of decline, and state 'decline is defined as negative week on week variance of combined audio and video streams, and which is below the combined streaming market rate of change week on week'.

So yeah, I don't have a clue what that means in terms of when she may hit ACR. I assume someone on ukmix will know.

Is that not negated though if she’s climbing on the chart? I thought that only counted if there’s a 3 week sales decrease AND it’s falling on the chart as well.

It's not a three week sales decrease - It's a three week streaming decrease. And there's no reference to any exception for a song which is climbing in the charts.

I guess in the majority of cases, a song which is climbing the charts will probably have had an increase in streaming - but it isn't the case if Kylie has benefitted mainly from other songs departing above her due to that very rule, rather than increasing her sales.

I've not seen the breakdown in sales/streaming, but her total sales equivalent at #10 this week was 20,912. Last week at #12 she had 21,976.

Bounced up to #35 on spotify yesterday. Lets hope this week sees an increase in streaming to stop the ACR!

This week will be week 2 of decline, if it happens - so I wonder if the strategy is to possibly allow streams to drift slightly, in the hope that another remix next week will see an increase in week 3.

If she could increase in week 3, that would reset ACR applying, so she'd get a further 3 weeks before it could apply again. Which would take us right through to the end of August, and the perfect time to release another track for the release of the album.

They've been super smart so far, I'd be surprised if they didn't have something up their sleeves to keep it up there.

As much improved as the HAAi remix is (over the other two at least) I think they'll need to do something else to lift streaming since I don't think any of the remixes have made a dent on streaming.

Kylie is supposedly in Australia now so that rules out any promo.

Yeah, they have been great - particularly considering Plan A for Tension was probably Padam Padam having a week at #58 and then planning accordingly.

I know she did Capital Ball which was televised, but they may be waiting for album release week for a PROPER TV performance in the UK of Padam, I think even if she has another single out at that time which will be on radio (2) - Graham Norton etc will be back in Sept and PADAM on there should work wonders for the album. I'd be going for a Kylie special on one of the chat shows with two perfs release week.
