Oh no. I love Wilkos. The smell of the grass seed section always reminds me of being a little rascal.

Oh no. A brand new Wilko opened in my area just in 2021. Granted I’ve only been in there once, but opening new locations post-COVID, I’d have thought they were doing OK.

Oh not my beloved WILKOS :(

Thank goodness my mother didn't live to see this day

I will mourn the loss of Wilko. During the first lockdown, only essential shops were open and Wilko was one of them. I used to go almost daily and walk up and down the aisles, admiring the goods as if I was in an exhibition.

I buy almost EVERYTHING in Wilko

EXCITING FASHIONS
HIGH END GIFTS
SANDPAPER-EFFECT BEDDING

:(

“admiring the goods” :D:D:D

I think I bought a fancy mop in there that one time I went in. I need a new electric toothbrush so maybe I’ll pop in at the weekend to help them out :)

OH NO followed by I’VE ONLY BEEN IN THERE ONCE :D

The devastation must be EXCRUCIATING

High street brands toppling like dominoes. It's like 2008 all over again. The nostalgia!

Absolutely gutted about Wilkos. It's so nearby and we rely on it for SO MUCH.

I’m always surprised that there’s a Wilko on Kensington High Street. Well, not for much longer obviously :(

I’ve had a quick saunter around there and EMPTY SHELVES was my main observation. Not exactly the greatest INCOME GENERATOR!

Surely IKEA sells most of the things they sell in Wilko? Or DON’T sell, given the empty shelves

Yeah, but fuck ikea. It's 50 miles away and you have to set aside an entire day to allow for the marathon distance level of trudging around the whole building.

Same, I think the nearest is Thurrock. Wilko is local.

There are lots of shops that do the same thing now, but without the scruffy, disinterested, work scheme staff or peeling sellotape everywhere.

My IKEA is just around the corner from the new Wilko. It’s really very convenient, but you need to reserve an extra hour if finding something on the second floor, just in case you get lost.

Then there’s a massive B&Q next to it, a Home Sense AND a new Home Bargains. That’s only half of the superstores all bundled together around Charlton/Greenwich Peninsula.

Have you been?

I rely HUGELY on Wilko and will be appalled if they go under. It'll be the first one of these I actually went into regularly that died if it goes!

The only quite major downside there being living in or near CHARLTON :tongueout:

Greenwich is quite lovely thank you!
Well I didn’t say GREENWICH :eyes:

I think there are some very odd energies in Greenwich although that’s true of SE in general. I’ve never got drunk there without it turning very weird indeed but I blame the naughty Green Witch :(

It's a really weird one this, feels like it should have been avoidable. The management has gone very wrong somewhere (it's a business which also kept on trading throughout the pandemic).
