Coldplay - 'Moon Music' - new album

Apparently this is DEFINITELY ABSOLUTELY FINALLY THEIR LAST ALBUM after the last last final one and the last final one before that, and the last tour that they weren't going to do because they were split up after the last album that they weren't supposed to make because they're not together any more.
 
Put HIM front and center if this is the last one!

I've just heard the new one with Little Simz... what was she thinking?

It might be the worst thing I've heard this year. And Katy Perry is still releasing new songs.
 
Why ARE they still making music? They can’t be getting anything out of it CREATIVELY. There’s nothing approaching JOY in their music, OR DEPTH or EXCITEMENT. It can’t be enjoyable to produce, is it purely the money at this point?

We Pray reminds me a BIT of forgotten anthem Princess of China (though nowhere near as legendary obv). they've done much worse.
 
There are SO MANY worthless releases every single day, can't see what's wrong with a Coldplay one, really.
I don't find them exciting anymore, but they are AMAZING live.
So, I guess that'll be something to add to their next tour or something.
 
Why do Coldplay think that the Moon wouldn't believe in appropriate punctuation and capitalisation?

Even in its native language of Loxian, it still observes these standards.
 
I'm not a close listener/observer of Coldplay, but know and like most of the singles. My guess is that these songs are close to the early ones like Yellow, but with a better orchestral sound overall. I do actually like We Pray too, and iAAM - I am a Mountain (could be another single?), and Moon Music itself. 🌕🎹 🎶
They announced retiring after 2 more albums or something recently https://exclaim.ca/music/article/an_oral_history_of_chris_martin_claiming_that_coldplay_are_retiring but he seems to say they're retiring as often as Enya says she'd consider a tour. :laugh:
I think One World and All My Love seem kind of like slow 1970s songs. 😊
The other upbeat-type ones are Aeterna and Good Feelings. Jupiter and feelslikeimfallinginlove I found a bit boring 😅 but the way Moon Music fades into it is good.
 
After the singles I have zero interest in listening to this

This perfectly articulates my dwindling interest in them.

Coldplay were never purveyors of raw authenticity, but their output in the last couple of eras feels so much more cynically aimed at algorithms instead of people.

This had sold 160k as of Mondays full update. Well over what their last one managed in a week.

I am surprised - I didn’t think there was a huge audience for them anymore. Like big, sure, but I’d think 50-60k for the week, not getting up towards 200k :o

Never watched the first Karate Kid (only the Jaden Smith and Jackie Chan version) but this is sweet 😊

It sounds similar but like this better than the first single :grin:

Expected to drop out of the top 10 this week

But so massively front-loaded with physical sales that they're already #5 in the YTD sharts. Streaming numbers presumably not amazing, averaging a couple of listens per listed songwriter.
