Sunday takes a shock lead in Iowa

I finally got put in contact with the CARERS SUPPORT WOMAN so I can COMPLAIN AT HER :disco:

Although so far her main function appears to be PASSING ON PERTINENT INFORMATION to the TEAM rather than being MUCH HELP

What do you do for mindfulness?

On a really frequent basis, only a three minute mindful breathing exercise, which I try to do at least once a day, and then always additionally in every surgery session. I've tried to do that for years with varying degrees of compliance, but this year have enforced it a lot more due to my heart disease and high blood pressure, as it's also really good at bringing that down.

Then I'll also try mindful eating a few times a month - not with a full meal, but with a snack, particularly raisins, as that was I used in a class I attended years back. It's also EXCELLENT to do it with a good red wine, because you get so much from it.

Very occasionally I'll do a full body scan meditation, but to be honest, it bores me usually so I rarely get around to it, and when I do often feel in a rush to complete it, which defeats the object.

I’ve tried some of those things with Calm. I also struggle to get on with the full body scan.

I’m lucky in that I have the view across the sea, so will often spend time just looking and taking note of what I can see. That helps a lot, particularly in the mornings.

If you're outside by the sea, I imagine doing the same with what you can smell would be great as well.

I use headspace before bed, their sleep casts literally send me to sleep. I struggle to empty my head before bed generally otherwise. I'd love to be able to meditate but my mind just drifts too much.

Back to work Tuesday. Having a sudden panic of "have I done everything I wanted to in the year off"? The answer is broadly yes, but I've had a big fuck off sort of of the shed and a good dump trip anyway. Feeling much lighter for it. :disco:

(I'm aware of how this sounds, no-one page Martha thanks)
Don't forget you're allowed extra breaks if you need to express or anything :disco:

In all seriousness though, take it easy. I remember feeling quite nervous about going back, but after a few hours it literally feels like you haven't been away (in a good way!).

I was in Birmingham this weekend, there was a big old memorial to Liam Payne in the city centre :(

I was exploring Headspace this weekend. It seems more focused on improvement than Calm is, which feels more anxiety based. We’ve got free subscriptions through Mr Sheena’s work, so I might have a bit of a play around with that.

I mentioned it earlier separately to this discussion too, but I also find my bedtime routine is helping me a lot- cleanse and moisturise etc, beard oil in my tache, hair oil in my head, lavender spray on my pillow, essential oil in the air diffuser thing, half hour in bed doing very little before sleep.

Calms me a lot.

Yes I've got it free through work too. But I do agree that a good bedtime routine can help wonders too, I have a lavender pillow spray which is lovely :disco:
