Louise - Confession (single) + Confessions (TOP TEN ALBUM!)

Lovely. Not sure a tour is feasible when it appears multiple format purchasing gays got her the position but I’m sure a realistically sized venue in a couple of the bigger cities could be a possibility.

BFS, a master at raining on a parade.

Oh she should definitely stick to small venues in gay cities, but I think it’s feasible for her. She and her team have done a remarkable job of building up her reputation, and frankly her catalogue!

1.(2) Sabrina Carpenter
2.(NE) Sparks
3.(3) Ed Sheeran
4.(NE) When Rivers Meet
5.(9) Tate McRae
6.(6) Fleetwood Mac
7.(NE) Skunk Anansie
8.(NE) Louise
9.(10) The Weeknd
10.(1) Morgan Wallen

She really was fighting off those streaming behemoths!

It'll be interesting to see the sales breakdown - presumably it'll skew more to downloads than other albums.

It's nice to see an act like her play the game and win though. Particularly as even with these other versions being released through the week, she was still on a smaller number of formats tha a lot of other new releases.

#4 Album sales
#2 Downloads
#4 Physicals

Looks like When The River Meets(?) played a similar download game as they’re #1 there. Sparks #1 on Physicals.

Well that was a result, well plated. Good on her for managing to halt the painful fanbase act slide out of the top 10 over the week.

Biggest first week sales of her comeback era too.

"Initially charting as a member of Eternal in 1993, Louise has pursued a career as a solo artist for nearly 30 years Her fifth solo studio album, Confessions, maintains her 100% Top 20 strike rate, and becomes the 50-year-old’s highest charting album for 28 years, debuting at No.8, (6,419 sales)." (Music Week)

Heavy Love did 6,017, Greatest Hits 5,755.

She was safely within the Top 10 too:

#9 - 6,029
#10 - 5,487
#11 - 5,220

Congratulations and everything and the album's great, but she does continue a traditional of bizzare picks for her socials. That last pic looks like the Grim Repear has just knocked on her window...

So her albums have peaked at 6, 7, 8, 9, 11, 11, 12

If only that GH had held up and she’d have a perfect set :(

Well, or delayed dispatch/recording of earlier orders - which presumably would be better in terms of indicating more fans.

This is lovely (and possibly explains how on earth she got the opportunity to work with him :basil: )

She really is reaping the rewards of years as a low key gay icon at the moment.

How did that happen, given all those digitial releases?! Presumably the others must have multicoloured cassette variants which I don't think she had any of.

I don't necessarily mean this week particularly - just the way the game is played now by acts on bigger labels with bigger budgets. Although Sparks at least had I think 4 different vinyls alone.

Oh sorry, it appears to have gone if you go to cart. Not sure if it's been there all week.

#1 on cassettes!

HPOLM :disco: (Late May)

I am thrilled for her, I am such a massive fan and the amount of promo she put in this week was quite the old fashioned ethic. This album is great and so was Heavy Love. I definitely think she can tour this away from the usual festival/shows. She's also really confident with her voice these days and she has the BACK and CURRENT cat - she doesn't need dancers or even a small set, she's good with her backing singers and a band. I'd go for London Palladium, Brighton Dome, CROYDON FAIRFIELD HALLS and a few up north :disco:

I was expecting low top 20 after reading the mids here, so to hang on to #8 is :disco:

Really wanting TV perfs of Only Dancer and Get Into It, they've both emerged as something truly special. I was thinking breakfast TV for OD (to make us OD) and Get Into It for The One Show (to KO us completely). GII is Beautiful Inside II and then some - the dribbling with Janet-isms just the finishing touch (Throb/All Night (Don't Stop).

For comparison, last week's new entries in the top 10 by The Sherlocks (#4) and Pete Doherty (#7) both fell out of the top 250.
