They didn't actually for the original single, that's an edit for a US-only promotional single that somehow ended up on 1982's The Singles - The First Ten Years compilation and a lot of GHs ever since (including the original ABBA Gold although the full version was eventually reinstated).

TNOTG would have been one of my least fave ABBA numbers as a pre-pubescent, but it gets better with every year I age.

I echo most opinions - this really is THE pop song of ALL pop songs.

Everything about it is perfection. Overplay or not, I honestly cannot think of another pop track that embodies the concept of pop music to the level that this does. This song itself IS the genre.

I wouldn't choose to play it, but when I do I always like it.. unless it's like at another wedding disco. As NME observed, a good song can be ruined by overplay (that Young Folks whistling one from the advert) but not a great one.

And this is one of the all time greats for that classical sounding intro alone, no wonder Freed cried.
