Will Madonna ever have another UK #1 single? (1 Viewer)

Will she grace the top of the sharts again?

I didn't realize the animosity with Sharon Stone went that deep. I thought it was more recent.

There is no beef with Sharon. Madonna wrote a letter in the early 90s slagging her (and others) off as "mediocre", Sharon and her subsequently became friends, someone tried to auction the letters off and the press tried to make something of it as a result. Sharon went on record, as above, saying she didn't care and that she was Madonna's friend and it was a cunty thing to do for her private letters to be made public like that.

Didn’t know anything about the Sharon Stone thing. And I presume that’s partly because Stone wrote a perfect response to the letters that gave the media nothing to feed on. Amazing.

Madonna would hate that. She would prefer a Joel Corry remix of Bitch I'm Madonna or Turn Up The Radio.

I would prefer a second rising of I GUESS I JUST DON'T RECOGNISE YOU WITH YOUR CLOTHES ON TEEHEEHEEHAHAHAHAFLUMP

Turn Up the Radio is actually not such a bad song. the vocal... exists but I like the song itself quite a bit! always loved Hello by Solveig and it's essentially pt. 2.

Apparently she thought GT was going to be huge and was extremely disappointed with how it did. I mean, it's not like she even performed it on The One Show or anything.

I can imagine she thought she'd reclaim some of her ye olde casual crossover listeners who liked Live To Tell and Take A Bow, but hadn't followed her to MDNA. Power ballad + modern Tedder-esque production = winner, surely?

But ultimately as nice as Ghost Town is, her vocal was still years past her best. Too nasal and effected to really stand up to her older ballads, or even to any of the new contemporaries doing similar material.

If she thought Ghosttown was going to be huge, she’d have surely made it the lead single?

And it probably would have done better than Living For Love, in fairness…

Rebel Heart is probably the most frustrating What If of her post-Hard Candy career.

If only she/her label hadn’t panicked after it leaked, she could have had a bona fide hit on her hands with Ghost Town as a solid followup. (Though presumably she’d have still ruined it all with the horror of BITCH I’M MADONNA :zombie:)

Living For Love was so BLAND.

I remember my sister loving Turn Up the Radio and being rather puzzled by this even though I've always rather enjoyed it in an ish throwaway manner. The vocal is just so weak to take any command over it as being A Madonna Song.

It’s probably my most hated Madonna single ever. Just for how fucking bland and WEAK it is. It’s the same issue I have with Give It 2 Me, but Turn Up The Radio exacerbates things tenfold.

Turn up the radio isn't as bad as Candy perfume girl though.

I don't find Turn Up The Radio a bad song as much as a really boring one.

Awful vocal though, obviously

Do people seriously think that MDNA's other singles were that much better than Turn Up The Radio? Like, I love GGW but we knew what we were getting when Give Me All You Luvin' was the lead.

I repeat what I said above- it's just so BORING and BLAND. That can't be said about either of the first two singles.
