Mariah Carey - Here For It All (New Album Out NOW) (1 Viewer)

11. Here For It All

I was ready to dismiss this as a bit standard, but OMG the second half! :o it's definitely a Part 1 and Part 2 song, and I almost would love to hear them split... she absolutely smashes this second half, sounds amazing, such conviction (I can handle the Gospel here because it's not overly JESUSY in the lyrics) and the piano and production are top tier... everything clicks. For a second there we got 90 Mariah. Almost! I'll have to remind myself the next few times that I listen to it that it GETS BETTER.

8/10

Overall I quite like this. There's definitely a few songs I'll never go back to, and I get why they need some current sounding songs but I really could live without Sugar Sweet and Confetti & Champagne. If you take them out the album has real cohesion with 70s soul as its backbone - it's a shame about the vocals in places and I do think it could have been avoided as well, but it is what it is.

I'm not here for it all, but I will be here for repeated listens of some of the songs. An optimistic and pleasantly surprised if also slightly disappointed thumbs up.

Keke Palmer got the real her

her absolute refusal to give any detail about what happens in the studio is hilarious.

how was it writing that iconic song?
it was great. so many... moments...

:)

I'm not sure if it's the makeup or the lighting but someone did her a little dirty there.

this serve on the other hand...

I do think there's a weird thing going on where some interviews (all the UK promo, Gayle King and Keke Palmer) she seems kinda spaced out and uncomfortable, and others (Jimmy Fallon, this super fun trackstar promo) she seems very present, witty and relaxed.

this one is genuinely the most enjoyable promo she's done in years

Girl if mine shows up like this one I’m killing myself

Well it’s been real but I am NOT here for it all

Projected to debut at #4 in America, with higher sales than Caution. Highest new entry, beating Doja Cat. A success!

Don’t @ me next week

yeah 65k at #4 would be a fantastic result all things considered. Doja at #5 with 55k is shocking. goes to show the power of a fanbase who'll buy the vinyl and I guess the stateside promo has worked well.

Today's earworm: I forgot to tell you thaaaaaaaaaat paaaaaaaaaaaaart

This post is such a flex. The promo has been low-key epic this era. She's BANKABLE hunty

its perfect background cooking music as I found stirring the red wine into my marinara yesterday!
Ooh I might put it on for tonight then! I'll be shaking my AZZ to I WON'T ALLOW IT with my martini in hand while I pop the PIZZAS in the oven to the bemusement of my dog & Mr SUEDE (he heard some of it from upstairs this morning and didn't mind it unlike the EVITA soundtrack)

I don’t understand how she hasn’t held onto enough fans to go top 10/20 these days when you consider how big she was for a time and that other heritage acts regularly get a decent first week finish and not all of them are putting out 10 different formats.

Charmbraclet made #50 something if I remember right

Charmbracelet was released during the Christmas rush, so I wouldn’t say this is a relative success. But the US debut is good

Well it performed a bit under the predictions in the US with 51k at #7

Thought this was a bit shady too since it’s her first album of new material this decade

I was amazed she wasn’t opening at #1 in the US, considering her supposed fan base, so #7 with all the promo she’s done is fairly awful.

But #31? Jesus…
