Surely there are multiple crimes she can be arrested for at this point. What a fucking monster.
 
Could be worse, she could be reissuing half the songs with a few new ones and packaging it as if it was a completely new album as well as taking a big cheque from Jeff Bezos for the pleaseure.

Don't say it out loud, because she absolutely WILL do this if the idea is planted. She'll be FURIOUS she wasn't the first to try.
 
The whole system is fucked. The chart compilers took action when multiformatting got out of hand for singles in the late 80s, early 90s but that was a very different time for the industry and now neither the labels nor the shops want them to do anything now because the whole market is clinging to life by a bawhair.

Except the reason the market is hanging by a thread is that hardly anyone can break through in a market dominated by big hitters that never leave the entirely irrelevant charts and that you have to wait a year for a vinyl plant to be free to press your album.

Fuck the record companies, they’ve made this shit themselves.

As for the Kylie comparison, I kind of agree in that I’ve slagged off the Kylie multiformatting nonsense for some time, but also, that ends up adding to a few hundred thousand copies worldwide that allow her to be financially viable and to continue releasing new music on the sort of budget a Kylie album requires. Taylor Swift does not have that excuse.
 
I think for me, the slight distinction - aside from the scale issue @Sheena mentions - is that if you're, say, Kylie, Saint Etienne or Louise and you're doing the multi-format thing to stay afloat (to varying degrees, obviously Kylie needs it a lot less!) - you're aiming those sales primarily of an audience that is 30+ and can for the most part make informed decisions about what they're buying.

Taylor's been around for almost 20 years now so perhaps it's less of an issue, but I do still find myself wondering how many of her real loon fans are younger girls who probably aren't as financially discerning and might be more vulnerable to racking up a load of debt in the name of being a good fan? It does give me the ick a bit, especially as she doesn't really need it at all, so it really is just greed.
 
If the chart company would change the streaming rules for albums or have a separate chart for albums that are more than X years old, the charts wouldn't be the problem. The clog-up is all those old greatest hits that hang around and push new albums out after one week of fan sales. Personally, I'm fucked off with "deluxe" edition that add songs to existing albums. It was bad enough when we were double dipped physically but now you think I'm going to go out and buy an LP/CD which now only has about 70% of an album on it because you've bulked it up? No.
 
After nuclear war, there will be an island nation just for the world's remaining wealthiest made up of a terra firma composed of Taylor Swift vinyls :disco:
 
Andy Cohen was right about her and he's rarely wrong about most celebs..
 
isn't Andy Cohen an alcoholic whose hit show has done quite a lot to manipulate women? I'm not sure how much stock we need to put in his thoughts on Taylor Swift

That's one way of looking at it.The other way is that he has provided a platform support women's voices. We can debate that intelligently if need be without resorting to insults or gossip. I have no idea if he's an alcoholic or not, but even if he was, don't addicts deserve support and empathy?

She's an ego driven cult leader. Everything is about feeding her ego. Her fans are absolutely fucking obsessed, it's unhealthy and frankly delusional, just the way she likes.

I worked with someone, a shall we say professional, who stopped talking to me after I said I didn't care for her. She used to put her whole albums on in meetings. I'm pretty sure she was convinced they could be friends. This is, I remind you an educated professional.

Everything that happens is about making her the biggest pop star who ever lived based on exaggerated metrics. The gag is, she'd be up there eventually without getting her cult to verify her every week.
 
Look, I will happily defend housewives as a concept and a show to watch, but I am not going to go to bat for Andy Cohen specifically.
