His first term felt like some grim fever dream, but this one is so much bleaker. It feels as though something is fundamentally broken that can’t be fixed.

Even if there’s a free and fair election in 28 that the Republicans lose, how does the world come back from this?

It really feels like the only thing that might - temporarily - derail the insane billionaire class that have been allowed to seize full, unaccountable control over the levers of power, is a catastrophic economic crash brought on by their own hubristic gambling on AI. Not really a fun thing to root for.

Dreaming of the day we will need to literally EAT THE RICH!

I do remember the fury in his eyes when he was indicted in court, knowing he would be unhinged in his revenge and pettiness if he ever had the chance of real power again and feeling quite reassured that there's no way he would have the gall to run for office again, no way the Republicans would dare let him anywhere near it again, and no way the public would vote him in again, after everything that had happened in his first term, on Jan 6th, in the court cases, and everything in between.

Bleak times indeed.

the billionaire class will always be fine and their power will only increase whatever happens. that's late stage capitalism. there's no way out. an economic crash hurts the middle and the bottom of the pyramid more.

I think Trump-style governance will definitely fizzle, but Trump-style POLICIES will remain in the Republican party. Trumpist policies but in a disciplined way that conforms with the establishment and respects political procedure. The country will remain polarized but only because it was already anyway.

Personalist movements are flashes in the pan and they struggle with succession because they dig themselves into a hole. All potential 'heirs' will have been eliminated and trying to find substitutes will be futile. Trump's chaotic personal style is not something I see the Republicans wanting to keep after Trump. IMO, the typical future Republican candidate will probably say something like "I liked Trump's policies, but I didn't like his approach"

The "Doomsday Plane" is actually one of several in a fleet of planes that is constantly on alert and usually in the air, can withstand a nuclear blast, and is protected against an electromagnetic pulse -- or as the U.S. Air Force explains ... "In case of national emergency or destruction of ground command and control centers, the aircraft provides a highly survivable command, control, and communications center to direct U.S. forces, execute emergency war orders, and coordinate actions by civil authorities."

All the news regarding ICE in the last year has been chilling, and it feels like it escalates by the day. Why the fuck a foreigner would want to step foot in America at the minute I don’t know.

I think you’d be ok…

What the FUCK :D :manson:

Donald Trump just ended colonialism from one press conference! Everyone PACK YOUR BAGS!

Who the gel ARE ICE agents anyway? People who got kicked out of the military and just want to shoot at anything?

Apparently federal employees, but they always have masks covering their faces and they often don't even wear uniform under their vests/armor. It's just JEANS AND TSHIRT. Sue them for that ALONE.

Darling even I was repulsed by this. The thought of him plotting the end of the world in his soupy drawers is a definite TURN-OFF

His body is rotting in real time and that government is going to keep him propped up til the very end. They’ll seep every last drop of hatred and fascism out of him until there’s nothing left. Waste not want not.

I occasionally wonder how history will consider this era and then I remember that there won't be anyone left to write it and our history will be rewritten from the few surviving artefacts by the North Sentinalese. In 600 years time, they'll conclude that we had sex with with robots, that we worshipped Harry Potter and that "Tesla" was our word for the rectum.

He’s started bombing Caracas.

There’s absolutely no way he’s going to leave that country in a better state than he found it.

Christ, what is in the Epstein files? He must make Jimmy Savile look like Mother Theresa.
