I am also STUPIDLY TIRED but I have little to do today. I fear I am coming down with the LURGY. I really need to try and lock this place up for the rest of the Winter and head back over home in the next few weeks. I was going to go on holiday as it’s all very DULL and COLD around these parts but will probably wait until March to bugger off again for a bit.

As exciting as it gets for me at the moment.

I don't think I have lurgy, but I've been struck by fatigue again. Quite a lot of aches and pains, although there's quite a lot of air pressure changes at the moment which crush my poor feeble body.

I can confirm that Monday has been Mondaying and it's feeling moderately Mondayish here as well :(

Still, I've been paid, February is in sight and we've just moved into a nicer room in the office, so SMALL VICTORIES and all that.

What's for lunch?

@big ron I saw proper kangaroos today!

I've been fairly lucky with colds/lurgy this winter so far, a least. A couple of times I've kind of felt at that point where it felt like I was on the precipice of it happening, but thankfully have woken up the next day feeling fine.

I started taking magnesium a couple of months back for sleep/energy purposes, but it's supposed to help with the immune system as well, so perhaps that's helped.

Also a big fan of sardines. Tinned fish is wildly underrated.

Sardines on toast
Not the most sociable meal to make in the office.

But I do love tinned sardines on toast or bread. Mashed up with some finely chopped onion, olives and lemon juice. Yum.

I'll probably get a Tesco meal deal :(

@big ron will be impressed that I spent £18 on a wanky bottle of olive oil from an equally wanky deli at the weekend. Infused with mandarin.

Ive just made myself a lovely Lorne, egg, and Stornoway black pudding with brown sauce roll. Its definitely one of those days.

Does anyone tend to go to THE BAKERS for lunch these days? We have a fabulous bakers here and as much as I adore their pies/pastries etc I usually have to be in the mood. The salad boxes are SUBLIME and I think I might go and pick one up for tea later.

I do like a bakery, but there are very few normal bakeries around these parts any more. The more 'old fashioned' type ones have been replaced by Greggs or a local chain called Parson's, or it's all £6 a sourdough loaf artisan places which are lovely for a treat, but don't hit the spot when you're just craving for a bacon sandwich on cheap white bread with lashings of brown sauce.

Yes, I agree. The likes of Bake Off etc has produced so many artisan bakeries who produce many fabulous treats it is all rather overpriced for what you get. Where I am based in Scotland we have an amazing local old school style bakery which is not only reasonably priced but the portion sizes are HUGE. This salad box I am talking of would easily feed 2 and it costs under 3 quid I think.

Actually there IS what is apparently a nice old school type bakery a couple of minutes walk from my mum's flat. But it's called 'Brizzle Born and Bread', so I refuse to shop there on principle.

I do much prefer an OLD SCHOOL GREASY SPOON over the new fangled lah-di-dah bakers that litter every street in 2026.

I so rarely "buy" lunch. I always make my own at home.

I do fancy sardines on toast now though :disco:

Aren't the types of magnesium for sleep/ energy different or am I making that up? I'm using the sleep one and it actually seems really good and also my immune system appears to have been better this year, so maybe it is that...

The one I take supposedly has three different types - let me look it up

I’ve been taking magnesium glycinate for the past couple weeks, and I think it really has been helping my sleep

My Monday is feeling rather Sundayish. It isn’t actually icy here, but my work is closed

Well this topic is inspiring all my actions today. Just ordered some Magnesium. Anything to improve my energy levels.
