Taylor Swift - The Life of a Showgirl (12th album) (1 Viewer)

I say again, I laugh but I know damn well if Madonna was doing this back in the day I would have been doing the exact same thing. :D

I think about this a lot as I used to collect Madonna records and I agree, but also, I think there would have been a tipping point for me. I gave up collecting Madonna when everything just became readily available to the highest bidder on ebay. It made the joy of finding something out in the wild less exciting (and less common) and I was fed up seeing rich young people with collections way bigger than mine when I'd been collecting for 20+ years. I mean, I remember being 14 and going down to my local record shop weekly to see if the (very nice) owner had kept anything behind the till for me in case I didn't have it/ could afford it.

Surely it’s much easier being a collector when the pop star you support is NORMAL, ie they release maybe one or two collectors items per release, and you’re able to make RATIONAL decisions like, if an album comes in 4 versions but they’re all EXACTLY THE SAME except there’s a DIFFERENT COLOURED DOT in the CORNER OF THE BARCODE then maybe you just, I don’t know, choose ONE OF THEM?

I bet you that GONK doesn’t even have a RECORD PLAYER!

I wish I understood the pleasure of staring a pile of unused vinyl that cost me the price of a holiday…

Collections are a safe place. Swift has created a very safe little universe. Of course people indulge themselves with it. There was an article on Discogs recently about someone who owned something like 60 different pressings of one of Black Sabbath's albums. They will, at least, re-sell better than Labubu.

Is she going to prevent Olivia Dean from a second #1 in the UK on Friday as well? She was #1 in the early midweeks.

The absolute WICKEDNESS!

One good thing I'll say about all this - Taylor Swift has undone any stupid notion that coming out in favour of NOT voting for the orange shithead will have a negative effect on your pop career. So I hope more cowards pop stars will speak up next time.

It's ridiculous how YouTube points don't help you chart on the BB100 anymore, but releasing 56 99-cent variants of the same song does; they need to rewrite the rules once more. Your days are counted, Taylor

They were 69 cents thank you. She’s a kind Queen

She's as evil as Trump.

I wouldn’t mind if she had done it with a decent song.

It’s seems the more dull her music gets, the more popular she becomes

I think the last 2 singles have been pretty good

I don’t know if they are #1 very good but the charts are pretty shit now anyway

Better than anything from the last album

I wholeheartedly disagree.

Opalite is a Sheena Easton B-side, and why would you not just listen to real Sheena Easton instead?

I've always thought Sheena Easton B-sides were #1 worthy, so your argument just doesn't hold water
