There's also the fact that this is what Labour used to be about before it got infected with Oxbridge thinktankers*. She's a 34 year olf plumber who stood because she believes in something. Didn't they all used to believe in something? Labour really face a choice now and I have every confidence that they will absolutely fuck it into the ground unless they take a decisive step to the left.

(*Sounds like rhyming slang...)

I was sooooo close by predicting a loony win. I mean, they were only 500 votes behind the Tories.

It really is marvellous news, not least because it will give the Labour Party reason to pause and realise why they've really been syphoning votes.

Aside from that, as someone who joined the Green Party many years ago, based on the fact that my Sixth Form history teacher and former Moopy sparring partner became a local Green councillor, and had the pleasure of helping to vote in Caroline Lucas in at Brighton Pavilion in 2010, this feels like a lovely moment of recognition.

I'm so pleased this was such a handy kicking for Reform. I feel like they've reached the upper limit of their support in this county, and it certainly doesn't position their supporters as the oppressed majority they like to pretend they are.

Post Corbyn panic. They pulled the wheel too far back round. They need to find their soul, it is hasn't been terminally damaged by private health companies pumping money into them.

WOW. WOOOOW WOWOWOWOWOW!

Quite amused the Loony Party came sixth and keep appearing uncommented upon on the BBC News graphics.

Has it been noted that the Conservative vote was their worst result in UK electoral history? :basil:

Cold comfort as all their votes are going to Reform, but complete electoral oblivion looking increasingly likely for them. If the swings in G&D were replicated nationally, they'd have two seats left after the next election.

I don't want to vote Labour, but I would like to vote Clive Lewis.

Too much discourse has been about getting Starmer out, and we really do risk allowing the appalling Streeting in the back door. It needs to be called out more often.

Starmer’s Green-bashing response really seems to have gone down like a bucket of cold sick among MPs…

Predictably Reform are throwing temper tantrums about Muslamic Ray Guns, and firing off all sorts of conspiracy theories about they didn't win the seat that they obviously deserved in a heavily ethnic constituency.

Farage has submitted a police report quoting his own BOOK OF STATS, claiming 12% of "family voting".

Seemingly nobody has done any math to realise they still would have lost.
