Maggie is so panto but I have enjoyed her over Christmas, she's had some fun one liners. Love Evelyn aswell especially that scene between her and Abi in the rovers which felt like the old classic corrie with no dramatics but just a well written comedy scene. The writing for Evelyn is always brill so why can't they get it right all the time? I do enjoy Abi as a character too, she just deserves better stories along with poor old Carla having to act out this kidnap rubbish

Did anyone catch Corriedale? It was really GOOD! The first episode in quite some time that actually grabbed my attention throughout the whole hour episode. Maybe merging them both is the WAY FORWARD.

It definitely deserved bigger ratings, but is it just me or does that figure still look very PALTRY?

When you think it's only about 6% of the population, it IS pretty paltry.

But then it's about the same as the best programme of the entire Christmas week got on overnights, so on that measure it surely must be seen as pretty successful and a sign of the times.

What will be interesting is how well it does on catch up over 7 days. If it gets similar to how Corrie normally does (which is a little better than Emmerdale), you'd expect to see it at 5.3m or so. But it seems to have been pretty favourably received judging by social media I've seen, so I wonder if it'll make more people seek it out. Or perhaps more people watched it live specifically as it was a special episode.

It was really well done. My only gripe was it was all very DARK. I know it was night time but I found it quite hard to see in parts.

Yeah it was definitely a bit too dark. I enjoyed it too, but I'd like to have seen more interactions between the two casts - they seemed to save those for the last 15 minutes, when I'd like to have seen more during the whole episode!

I didn't notice anything with Corrie, but I thought Emmerdale looked a bit washed out - like it was filmed with a filter that drained out some of the colour.

Especially the way they’ve oh-so-subtly paired Ben and Steve together and they’re declaring themselves besties after 5 minutes…the writing on this show really has gone to shit lately.

Left on the doorstep (sort of). Turns out it’s Carla’s brother Rob’s child, he had an affair with a prisoner officer while locked up, she ended up having a baby - her mother has handed it over to Carla to take care of for a few weeks.

I noticed the other day that they had a baby and didn’t have a single clue why. They still try and make Carla a central character but they have watered her down so much. The alcohol problem a few years ago seems to be forgotten about now. Lisa is also an awful character.

I actually think GLENDA is great character but is underused and will probably always be used as useless George’s sister. She has great potential as a character but let’s face it…Corrie is DEAD.
