I am really enjoying The Other Bennet Sister too. The nun from Call The Midwife is very charming as Mary.
 
I got mildly involved in Silent Witness while Mr L was watching it last week, and have watched a few of the two parters this last week. Can't say I was hooked, though.

Anyone dipped a toe into The Madison (starring QOL Michelle Pfeiffer) yet?

I’ve seen it described as a ’neo-Western’, but mainly due to aesthetic reasons rather than storyline.
 
Just started S1 E1 of The Affair added to ITVX. I knew it was not new but I was shocked it started in 2014. I had to check when I noticed how YOUNG Ruth Wilson looked.

Starting series 1 of The Capture since BBC iPlayer just played the trailer after I stream the Gladiators final on it.

Oh my. A prisoner in grey joggers. Sold.
 
I quite enjoyed Babies on BBC1 last night. It had a feel of late night BBC2 / BBC3 about it, somehow wouldn't have been primetime in a different era but thought it was very good.

I have heard very good things about this. It sounds like quite a heavy subject matter so may need to ready myself for it.

Yes and gets heavier in the second ep which I watched tonight. There's a good amount of humour and normal life in it too though. and Charlotte Riley.
 
Finished ep 3 of Babies last night and its really really good. Lots of issues being covered. The main being miscarriage of course. But liking how its delving more into the paralell story line with Charlotte Riley's character. That best friend 'Dave' is rather ODD.

I've only watched the first episode but every scene with Riley and Dave is so uncomfortably awkward.

It took me a while to recognise the female lead as uptight sister from The Dry, she is so different in this.

Yes, the dynamic between those two is so awkward but yet probably so common when you think of the context and the roles..cheeky chappy, older successful woman wanting a baby.

I don't know the lead actress, but I saw her on The One show (!) before I started this and she looks...well stunning in the studio and not constantly crying :D
 
I've just watched episode 4 of Babies. Dave is fucking vile and Amanda completely hateful. I'm hoping this was the low for Lisa and Stephen too as it was hard work.
 
Finished The Other Bennet Sister. Perhaps an episode too long but really very lovely.

Whilst on iPlayer I also finally finished s2 of Things You Should Have Done with Chi with a C. It felt like a step down from s1, which I adored, but I still have a lot of time for it. Bridget Christie is fab but no replacement for the aunt who died in the hoovering accident. I love the cousin.

And in my most Fiat 500 act yet, I'm also 20 episodes in to a Friends rewatch. Bordering on an outright watch because I never saw every episode in the first place. I was expecting it to be QUITE PROBLEMATIC based on 'gen z discourse', but tbh it's fine so far and feels super progressive for 90s America on things like gays. I'm not sure a black person has had a speaking role as of yet MIND YOU
 
I think I’ve enjoyed The Capture but wtf has happened in the last 6 episodes I have no idea?

I was looking forward to The Capture, but I think I probably need to lower my expectations.

I see the BBC is promoting Amandaland again. I'm not inclined to stream the whole series again, but may go in for the Christmas special.

The first black character with a speaking role was in the third episode, one of Monica's work colleagues. Played by Jennifer Lewis no less. :disco:
 
I enjoyed The Capture for the most part but I would be quite content if that was it now.

DTF St Louis was a strange and ultimately very sad show. Definitely a worthwhile watch though.
 
Also has anyone watched The Miniature Wife?

I’m up to episode 3 but it’s really not grabbing me at all and it’s rare I give up on a show

I’ve not seen it, but I’ve yet to hear a single good word about it! Most reviews are saying that even an excellent cast can’t rescue the script.
 
I thought it looked like absolute garbage. The type of thing only being made because there are so many streamers and channels now and they all have to make SOMETHING

Iffy feeling title too.

I'm feeling the same. There are another eight episodes and I have no idea how they are going to extend this set up so far - it is apparently based on a SHORT STORY

I'm already watching The 'Burbs, which barely clears the dumb easy viewing bar. I don't have room for another dud.

The early signs of Sky's post-HBO Max acquisitions/co-productions or whatever are not great so far.
 
Just watched Zero Stars, the new travel show with Sara Pascoe and Roisin Conaty, where they go to a destination and do things rated poorly. Based on the first episode in Istanbul it's very Travel Man and exactly what you'd probably expect, but watching their friendship lifted it a notch and I'll definitely be sticking with it.
