I watched ep one of this a week ago and haven't been compelled to crack on with more. Cast and production values were top tier, but it felt really overwritten?

Does the central mystery become anything genuinely interesting or surprising, or (as it felt?) a desperate attempt at a hook to pin the show around?
 
I've a thriller/series hole at the moment, after finishing FAKE, so I'm looking forward to GONE this weekend, with EVE MYLES who can do no wrong in my eyes, fabulous :disco:

I can't really remember how far the plot got in the first episode but it does take some turns.

Have you or anyone watched? I think I want to as it was filmed locally, but I've read a few people complain that it's really slow.

I didn't find the first two episodes particularly slow. David Morrissey is almost aggressively buttoned up.

Well I stubbornly finished it, but mistakenly assumed these were just a bunch of bodybuilder type influencers. Instead, they are so unwatchable and nothing but rage-rhetoric, rambling paranoia, hateful mob effect inciting and, something I didn't see coming, antisemitic.

The 2 fans being the least Alpha-like men absolutely hilarious as they repeat lines and body language whilst their reality is anything but. Another group of young fans are asked about one of their idols and the best they can say is "he isn't that bad" almost as if they're not fully immersed in the parallel world they follow online for a form of freak show entertainment, or else they know extreme content is just clickbait.

The 2 different forms of media going head to head at the final scene is probably, as Louis states, the "grand finale". I actually don't think Louis was up to the task here, as both sides (of viewership) will hear what they want to. Something like when the HS guy started speaking to the BBC cameras as if he were on an Instagram live was a brief moment of respite.
 
We started Under Salt Marsh last night. I found Rafe Spall getting it on with Dino Fetscher quite arousing. Dino really does seem to have carved out a nice career for himself for whenever a Welsh homosexual gay is needed in a plot.

Finishing my first season of USA Married At First Sight (cycle 15). The reunion has been such a chore so far and I'm only just finishing the first of 2 parts that are 80 mimutes long each.

The Aussie one isn't loading on my dodgy firestick for the entire week. It usually corrects itself when the next episode goes up, but not anymore so far. So I'll likely have to resume at UK pace again. Major shame, it's head and shoulders above the US and UK strands.
 
@Music have you started MAFS Australia yet? First 4 episodes are up.

Not sure if C4 will also show the new spin-off After The Dinner Party, which is filmed alongside how it aired on Aus Channel 9 roughly 5 months after the main show was filmed. Nothing essential, but the drama does warrant it.

Anyway, my dodgy stick just shows a black screen when I try to access episodes for 2 weeks now, so I'll have to wait and just use channel 4 when it catches up.
 
I'm persisting with Vladimir but think I've gone back to not loving it again.

LOVED the first episode of The Capture. The second was kind of grating. Hopefully it gets back on track.

Rooster on Sky with Steve Carrell and Phil Dunster, who is less hot as a twatish academic than he was as twatish Jamie Tartt (but does roll around fighting in his boxers in the most recent episode).

Yes I got caught up on the first 5 episodes yesterday. It's been great, I honestly feel like some of these people are not real/bad actors :D Looking forward to the first dinner party tonight!
 
Onto episode 2 of Love Island Australia season 4. Despite my disappointment the guys aren't all bodybuilders 90% covered in ink, they did bring the drama early by ousting the most attractive girl by far.
 
I'm persevering with 'Gone' and am up to episode 4, its OK but not gripping me like I'd hoped or thought.

As much as I enjoy seeing my city on screen, if it isn't good it won't be enough to make me stick with it.
 
Just watched SNL UK. I'll look out for a notable host going forward, otherwise it looks like a complete skip based on who they've got lined up so far.
 
Had the misfortune to catch five minutes of Celebrity Sabotage yesterday.

Utter shite and I’m still angry with myself for not switching off. It also gave me more ammunition for my hatred of Judi Love.
 
I loved the first five episodes of The Other Bennet Sister, despite not being a girl

It says more episodes are out on Sunday and that had better be the rest of them :evil:

I ended up watching this too then Celebrity Bake Off and had to endure her twice :(

We've been watching this. Delightful comfort TV.

Just started How To Get To Heaven From Belfast, which two or three episodes in is a blast.

All your fave Irish actors... her from Brassic, him from Peaky Blinders, him from Father Ted, most of them have popped up in Derry Girls.
 
Is Judi Love funny as a stand up comedian? I only know her as a “celebrity” and actually really like her.

I watched the first season and am midway through season 2.

It has the occasional “twilight” level of storytelling but overall it’s not too bad. The lead guy reminds me of Jake Shears.
