Edinburgh is gorgeous today. I go through for my PT sessions. I think I am beginning to feel an improvement with my breathlessness, but I'm also very fed up with the slow progress so counting down the days until my appointment with the inhaler nurse. I'm a bit concerned they'll be all "not my department" if I make requests for the x-ray and chest scan I was told I would get by the doctor 2 appointments ago, but this is an issue that's been on my mind since late last summer.

I am ALL SORTS OF FUCKING GRUMPY considering I've just got a phone call to say "Oh we reviewed your appendix scan, you do need an operation (which I've been saying for months), we thought the best way was to do it with the acid reflux operation you're STILL FUCKING WAITING FOR DESPITE TELLING US IT HAD FAILED FOUR YEARS AGO AND NO ONE BELIEVED YOU...which I asked about three months ago and was told could not be done.

JUST IN TIME FOR a) SUMMER, b) GOING AWAY WITH WORK FOR SIX WEEKS (dates of which I've given for months too)...which means I can't have the reflux operation anyway cause the recovery time is too long and, presumably, will have to have the appendix out separately ANYWAY, but now have to get hold of some MYTHICAL MAN who is I've never heard of and is apparently taking my case over.

WHY IS IT ALL SO FUCKING HARD?

What sort of surgery would you be getting, @Sheena ? A fundoplication? And what did you get the first time? A LINX?

We've talked about this before somewhere, I think (not that I'm expecting you to remember my medical history!)

I had a fundoplication but mine is complex as my swallowing function is so shit (contrary to popular belief) and so it was a partial fundoplication which they wanted to do to check whether or not my swallowing function got better. It did, but the fundoplication failed fairly early on. I kept going back to be told "just wait, it will get better" and then eventually they did tests and realised it had failed. Took three years to get to that point, offered a slot for an op last year in May, just before I went away to work at the Club World Cup, took until January for them to try and book another date, which they then rescinded when they found out I needed appendix stuff doing, and now I guess it won't be done til I get back from the World Cup in July, though presumably now way later again.

Apparently my swallowing function is currently not good enough for Linx because the motility of my oesophagus won't push things past it.

Ive just spent two hours playing in the mud and Iโ€™m no longer grumpy

I know we talked about it (during COVID?), but I didn't remember the details and I think I hadn't followed the forum closely for a while after.
That sounds rough, I still find if weird that there are still no better procedures available for reflux.
I had read lots of stories about failed fundos when I looked into surgeries, but I was pretty much told I wouldn't get one anyway since I don't really have classic GERD, but rather LPR.

I thought mine was LPR for years but itโ€™s progressed into more traditional GERD symptoms really. Never so much heartburn, mindโ€ฆ

I really do want the new ball thing theyโ€™ve been doing but my local NHS doesnโ€™t do it,
