Separating the Art from the Artist

There was actually a song about loving the paintings of Rolf Harris but now feeling sad about it...

The best book by a monster is easily OJ Simpsons, "If I did it", an extremely graphic detailing of how he would (:eyes:) have committed those murders.

I believe the victims' families get all the money from the book after he was found guilty in the civic case as well
This book I actually have read :D

Yes, I still listen to Morrissey and he's a dreadful person. I don't listen to his new music, but that's because his awfulness is fully embedded in so much of his work now so that would require separating the ART from the ART. It's not like I'm sitting down to listen to BENGALI IN PLATFORMS either.
Samesies

And I've got everything (up til "Low In High School") on CD so I'm not giving him any streaming revenue.

Why is it getting fighty on some of the threads this week - I haven't seen this previously - is it the heat? Everybody needs a lovely iced tea and a nap.
cyclical! once or two a year moopy eats itself, briefly becomes introspective about whether or not it's a welcoming/hostile/relevant place (or some queen goes up in flames and decides to create maximum drama on the way out), one beloved poster leaves in the aftermath (soap-style exit, return guaranteed), and then everything goes back to normal. WELCOME TO THE MADHOUSE!

I still listen to the original version of Do What U Want and if you wanna know, then I'm not sorry.

the original DWUW was so much better than that Christina remix it actually hurts. to cope I basically erased the song from memory completely.

It was actually thematically correct to have a rapist on that song, so the change doesn’t make sense

MJ is probably the only one I still play.

I won't listen to Roisin Murphy, P Diddy, Kanye West, Chris Brown, Nicki Minaj, Dizzee Rascal.

Why can't more white artists be cancelled?
Cancellation doesn’t work in music as far as I can tell. I can’t think of a single big name artist that actually felt let any long term effects of being cancelled.

A white example : Morgan Wallen - “cancelled” yet is one of the biggest artists currently

He’s currently trending due a hissy fit of course

to be fair most of western Europe pulled their Kanye concerts this time around. he's only playing like 3 dates on the whole continent. so in a sense the backlash is working

In the US they don’t care and will support. Big celebs were posting about going to those shows he did recently.

Same with Chris Brown, the cancellation is swift but short. People post with their whole chest that while he beats women they still love him and will go see him live.

Michael Jackson fans have no shame in their support and probably never will.

I also think a lot of people are performative online to show how “woke” they are but don’t always follow through on the real world.

This doesn't really affect me since 95% of cancelled artists are male :D

I do kinda miss listening to 'I'm Your Angel' though.
