Tennis 2026 (3 Viewers)

most grand slams cease to be entertaining before the finals anyway. this one has still been a classique!!!

I'm rooting for Felix but think Cobolli will probably win. and later I would love a man named Matteo to win.

Seriously though Mensik needs to win this.

That match against Fonseca was amazing.

I think Fonseca could've won that if he wasnt fried from his previous five setters. Mensik was brilliant though.

this game is playing SO slowly in the wind. why don't they close the roof?

Qualifiers making deep runs, 2 new slam champions.

It’s all going very 2021 US Open shaped, only need FAA to take out Zverev in the finals to complete the storyline.

FAA looks on paper the best option to take out Zverev if that’s the end goal as he has 4 wins over him including the last 2 times they played, but I wouldn’t bet on it.

Agreed. The best option to take out Zverev is still Zverev himself.

Oh yeah Andreeva is another one and she's coached by prized cunt and bane of my ball boy life Conchita Martinez.
Eddie what's your Conchita story?

God I'm hoping you ballboyed the match against Patty Schnyder when she faked a handshake to Conchita at the net & called her a disgusting bitch :disco:

I was a ballboy captain on the outside courts in my second year and she was just a bit of a b*tch. No one liked her.

It was 1993. Was it the year she won? I zoned out after I finished. I think she may have won in 94 now come to think I of it.

it's not the job of a tennis player to be likeable. great if they are but they're there in a highly pressurised environment... who cares if they're not making friends all over the shop. Conchita is quite widely loved within tennis and is probably not that person anymore!

:manson: Thanks for the lecture.

15/16 year olds tend to have more visceral reactions to unpleasantness.it doesn't cost anything to be kind. I ballboyed the Graf Seles final and Monica was universally LOVED.

and 48 year olds don't let anything go from 32 years ago apparently!

poor Berrettini :( happy for Arnaldi to go through and to do so while he was well ahead on the scoreboard but that's still a shame. at least he'll be fresh for the semi.

Wow this RG is already beyond ICONIQUE, regardless of the final outcomes, judging by the reactions here alone :disco:

Sabs might not be my favourite girlie but I definitely have a soft spot for her and I certainly appreciate the consistency which the women’s game just NEEDS sometimes.

Maja Chwalinska is the only one who can save the tournament now. But it’s not happening :(

Chwalinska's style of play is so ugly it's got me rooting for Shnaider. wtf is this???

It’s a really smart way to play if you don’t have natural power. All the mixes of spins and pace prevent big hitters getting a nice rhythm, is very awkward to play against on clay. Junkballing is the usual term.

I remember in Andre Agassi's book he said he hated playing against Dutch player Jan Siemierink for this exact reason. Jan played so much junk that Agassi nicknamed him The Garbage Man.

Wild that Chwalinska would still have to qualify for Wimbledon as the cutoff point for rankings has surpassed. Unless she's granted a wildcard.

she'll probably get the wildcard if she wins but I do think Andreeva will win. still she gets $1.4m even if she loses that and double if she wins. a drinks sponsor had to step in to pay for her hotel last week!!

And Chwalinska does have very good anticipation to back up the maddening variety and get herself into a light counterpunching position.

I might be biased but I've felt the absence of Carlos far more than even I anticipated at the French Open. Wimbledon is going to suck. :(

I'm rooting for Mensik to win the whole thing but it still feels like a bit of a damp squib.
