Shania Twain - Dirty Rosie + Little Miss Twain

Less than half the sales (just under 8k) of her last album, though.

Glad its top ten but this roll out has never had any momentum. Queen of Me did, this has just felt a bit flat.

She isn’t in the HITS top 50 projection for the US… the #50 (Pitbull’s Greatest Hits :D ) clocked in at 15k units. That is pretty shocking for her.

this is bad

I always thought the US was Shania's strongest market and it probably was from The Woman In Me through to Up! but definitely not now.

Does anyone know how it has done in Canada? She usually does well there...

One problem here in the states is that gap she took between albums pushed her out of her old fanbase that was there from the jump and into a new one that sees her as an older artist. She couldn’t help getting sick so it is no fault of her own but she went from an albums era artist and came back in the land of albums don’t really matter anymore.

I also think the years of bad appearances and live shows didn’t help.

Just been listening to the new album and I really like it. A big step up from Now and Queen Of Me. It's also good to see that Shania was the sole writer on quite a few tracks.

I agree with all this! I think it's a shame it'll be written off as a flop as it's a more interesting album than Queen of Me

I think "Northern Town" is my favourite on first listen.

My faves are Stranger Things, Little Miss Twain, Dirty Rosie, Take It To The River and Rockstars. Lots of good songs.

No surprise. The material doesn't cut it compared to the blockbuster power-pop she projected all over the world in her prime. There is no slogan-sassy-meets-hook-galore reach that appeals to that mass audience expecting something much more emphatic and wham bam thank you Shan than this. She's a lovely lady and when she has a major behind her and a Mutt-like producer to provide the voltage there wouldn't be any denying her appeal, but until then it only hurts when I'm listening, etc.

you have to understand the chart position is highly conceptual. the album is called LITTLE MISS TWAIN. it's about who she was pre-fame. she hadn't yet been not impressed much. why would pre-fame Shania be getting a hit album? nobody knew who she was. through the lens of a record heard only by people hanging out in dive bars in the wilds of Canada, #131 is in fact a stunning success. and there's always time for it to grow once people learn about this promising up and coming chanteuse!!!

on another note - it's pretty insane that Stranger Things wasn't the first or at least the second single. it's by far the loveliest, classiest and most classically Shania thing here and she sounds really great on it.

It's the new #143! Yeah!

I like Dirty Rosie but I think it's a poor choice of first single amongst some other better choices

How much promo has she done in the States?

Surely she'll have a decent showing in Canada? Right? RIGHT??

Queen of Me was #2 in Canada. this album just has not connected. the singles sank it.

Yeah
131
When you're in the mirror do you like what you see
When you're in the mirror you're just looking at Me
I'm everywhere
I'm little Miss Twain
Uh Oh UAHO!!

Out of the top 200 in the UK with 600 sales in week 2

I genuinely disagree it's a better album than Queen Of Me. It'll be more satisfying for country music purists, but was that ever where Shania's real appeal lay?

As crazy as her sales were at her peak, I just don't think Shania is the kind of artist with a large fanbase of true devotees who will follow her down whatever artistic path she may take.

I do think this album contains some of her best songwriting, but the production, promotion and sadly her voice still just aren't up to it.

I think you've just about summed it up really. As has been pointed out the 15 year gap between
Up! and Now didn't help.

well, protagonists in country music often strap on their boots and go walkin' without any warnin'. the album is so rooted in that world.

I mean she’s worth (reportedly) around 400 million so she will be ok I guess

that does sound a lot but a mortgage in Switzerland doesn't come cheap Joseph love
