I went back to see Oh Mary now with Cole in it, and I loved it AND them. I think it's just the perfect stage comedy.

I'll probably sit Jinkx out to save myself for any interesting future Marys who I've not seen in other things, but I'm definitely up for a fourth trip. Which is objectively mental. It being fucking amazing and only 80 mins makes it so rewatchable though
 
Good! She's DREADFUL* and this will hopefully make getting ticket easier


*but I hope she gets help if she's ill
 
I’m just pleased the ticket buying should be easier now. Been waiting for this to come to London since the Jake Gyllenhaal one got cancelled because of Covid.

Bailey did Richard II at the Bridge Theatre after the released of the first Wicked, and that didn’t exactly sell well. So I don’t think he alone can get tickets sold out immediately.

I’m of exactly the same sentiment! I saw Jinkx recently in End Of The Rainbow so I think I can go without but would potentially be up for future Marys.

Saw it again this week with Cole. I absolutely loved this the first time I went but I think they and the entire current cast are just next level. I guess they really wanted to make sure of a top tier lineup for the tapings they have been doing this week.

Speaking of which - i’m thrilled that it will be available somehow as a recording too. If you can believe it, i’ve been wanting to see it with my mum who has a quietly filthy sense of humour!

Bought some decent seats at the front of the circle for Trainspotting… for £14 on a Saturday matinee.

I can’t think of a single show that has seats that decent for that cheap on a weekend :D

£43 seems to be the top priced seat at the moment. £14 seems to be the cheapest (we actually got them for £12.60 due to the extra 10% deal for the Gold tier at TodayTix).

I feel for the cast and technical crew etc. but this was clearly a BAD idea!

The Car Man was EXCELLENT! An amazing tour de force. The opening reminded me of a Strictly professionals performance (and I mean that in the best possible way). Lots of RAZZAMATAZ to get the show underway. Then it settled down into its storytelling. What I appreciated about it was that it was easy for a ballet virgin like me to understand the thread of the story. It told its story in a linear fashion from A to B and concentrated on that alone. So I came away feeling that not only had a watched a visual tour de force, but that there was a clear beginning, middle and end to the (admittedly quite simple) story.

Highly recommended. (Word of warning to those of a sensitive disposition - there is a brief moment of male nudity in the opening number.)

Brilliant. We’ve booked for the end of the month. Didn’t want to spend too much so got back of the first circle. We might have been able to get a better deal closer to the time, but I had a feeling that once reviews were out, it might possibly become a hot ticket.
 
Trainspotting was generally an incoherent mess. If you’d never seen the film or read the book, I don’t know how anyone would have a clue what was going on.

The mix of original songs and random jukebox hits was just weird. The new songs all seemed to be in completely different genres, with lyrics you could barely make out, and all tonally off from what was happening in the “story”.

But it ended with everyone dancing and clapping, because for some reason, they were blasting the original recording of Temptation by Heaven 17 during the curtain call. So because everyone loves that song, it briefly made us forget everything we’d just seen.

It was not however the worst thing I’ve ever seen. Maybe possibly Bottom 10, but maybe not if I properly thought about it.
 
Just gone to see Leslie Odom Jr. in Hamilton and he really was fabulous!

The rest of the cast were good but didn’t quite reach the heights of the 2025 cast (although we had the same Eliza and King George)

Got on stage tickets for Arcadia in a few weeks (surprised they’re mot more popular given how cheap they are compared to stalls tickets)

Giving Avenue Q a bash given it was only £15 for Theatre Week. I’ve heard good things.
 
Mel came to visit again last weekend and this time I took her to Titanique. So glad that Stephen Guarino was back as Ruth. I didn’t enjoy it when I last saw it in October last year, and his absence appeared to be the reason.
 
Finally booked Oh Mary! for next week. It will mark the end of Monsoon Season for me, after seeing Over The Rainbow and the Speaking Of Witch tour earlier in the summer.

There still seemed to be quite a few tickets left so I wondered about the possibility of grabbing a real last minute bargain, but don't think I could hold my nerve to travel up without a guaranteed seat.

The pricing of tickets really is crazy though. I must have checked 6 or so different sites and had as many prices ranging from low £50s to high £80s for the exact same seat. Still, I suppose it's no different to hotels.

Now, as we're in CULTURE, has anyone seen the Anish Kapoor exhibition at the Hayward Gallery? Very tempted to see that the next morning before getting the train home.

The TKTS deals released at midnight on the day of the show seem to be frequent and reliable. I managed to get great seats for £40 for a Friday evening last time, and that was at 9am.
 
I paid £55 including fees for a nice end of row seat in row M which I'm pleased with. £15 is more than worth the anxiety of wondering if I'll get a cheap or shit ticket at all every day until I go.
