Carly Rae Jepsen - Day and Night (new album era)

She is trying different things with her voice. A softer like than On Wires for now.

I've decided I really like this now but can't help but think they could have done something to make the 'after allllllllllll' part sound a bit nicer.

oh the new one is lovely, so summery. I didn’t care for the first one.

this is really great. mama, the texture! the filtered BVs! the house piano! she's taking it!

you know I fancy an impromptu CRJ top 10.

01 When I Needed You
02 Your Type
03 Cut to the Feeling
04 Western Wind
05 Shadow
06 Want You In My Room
07 Psychedelic Switch
08 So Right
09 Felt This Way
10 Now I Don't Hate California After All

QUITE HARD. my top 10 SIDE B would be almost equally fabulous.

It’s giving Winner Takes it All 🥹

Yes, this is definitely more Winner Takes It All than Dancing on my Own. I don't dislike it though, definitely her best song in a while, and I imagine in a week or two I'll be giving it a douze.

NOT for me.

“After All” on the other hand, is a gorgeous song.

Oh this is a complete joy. I was going to nitpick and say a middle eight would have been nice but I can't resent that little wig out section :disco:

first listen thoughts are that the production is a bit... turgid and lets a pretty good song down. that chorus sounds so flat.

Don't leave me in the dark to face another song alone :( :disco:

I have decided now that the song is unfortunately a little too short. It could do with some more chorus at the end.

Not even a casual fan of Carly here, but this is the first song of hers in ages that caught my full attention. Production might be a bit safe, it should either go overwhelmingly camp ABBA style or full on French house electronica. Nevertheless, I'm sold on this.

That was my first time hearing it. I'm in love. I don't expect any artist to fork out for a video anymore given they get zero back from anything other than touring.

I love it! Maybe the song of the year for me so far.

Only 800k streams on Spotify. :( Is she really that over?

it's a third single that's been out 12 days! the first 2 both have 2-3m.
Maybe my expectations are too high but those numbers are not big. Dancefloor has done less than 200k Spotify streams/day globally. You need around 300k to even enter the US top 200. The Queen deserves more. :( Still, amazing song so let’s hope it picked up!

The biggest of the three singles in the first week:

I guess it makes sense, it is pop catnip to her core fanbase.
