Looks like, as expected, all eyes will be on Nevada re the Senate.

It's an unbelievable success for the Democrats, even though conversely they could still lose the House and Senate.

Biden is set to have the fewest losses for a midterm President since George W Bush's first term. All things considered that's incredible. Even if the Republicans win the House, it'll be by a razor margin.

Senate looks good, especially with a pick-up from the Republicans in Pennsylvania, but some very close races in Georgia, Wisconsin and Nevada still undecided and the Democrats need to win at least one of them.

Bottom line is that it was a horrible night for Donald Trump, who will now be under pressure not to run for President. If he does anyway, these trends suggest he'd utterly tank the party in 2024.

On the other hand, the equally vile Ron DeSantis defied the national trend and won massively in Florida. Tonight pretty much confirmed him as the new Republican golden boy.

Really, we could do with Trump and DeSantis fighting each other to the death in a 'two men enter, one man leaves' style battle. Only where no men leave.
 
In a normal situation, this would tell Trump, it's over and he'd just pull out. He of course won't, despite the humiliation and of course electoral fraud will be blamed, despite the fact they had observers harassing everyone involved. Red on red violence please.

Does this mean Biden will try for 2024?

If Trump runs again, he'd still probably win the Republican Primary due to the cult of personality, plus the other candidates will still fear getting on the wrong side of his base - though DeSantis probably feels a lot more empowered now than he did 24 hours ago. So it's really going to come down to whether his delusion, desire for revenge and the handy impetus to delay any of those nasty legal cases hanging over his head outweigh his fear of losing a second time.

I really hope he runs again - it'd be a complete disaster for the Republicans.
