That’s almost entirely the same order as the Spotify Christmas playlist I had on earlier while putting the tree up.

I got as far as Sia and realised they were playing their one and not my own one and switched it. Bastards.
 
On Spotify yesterday it was a Christmas song top ten, with Gracie Abrams at #11 and Gigi Perez at #17 the only non Christmas songs in the top 20.

Numbers up as well on yesterday, and very similar to the corresponding Sunday last year. I wonder if they picked up significantly from Saturday as we moved from November to December?

I assume Gracie will hold on (guessing she is #1?) as during the week Xmas stuff goes down, but from next week we will likely have the Xmas tracks at #1 until the year end.
 
Kelly above Ariana happens a bit as well, shows that while Spotify is the biggest it isn’t quite as big as people think. Kelly being ahead on most/all other services clearly makes a difference.

I was looking to see if I could find an updated UK streaming market share, but couldn't find anything more up to date than the one from 2 or 3 years ago which had Spotify a fraction under 50%, Amazon and Apple either side of 20%, and the others fighting for the rest.

Kelly is also outperforming Ariana on sales, although I suspect the difference that makes really is negligible unless total sales are very close indeed.
 
Has anyone tested Amazon Music to see how hard they are pushing Tom Grennan and Laufey?

Nice to see Sheeran wallowing as low as that without ACR. But I remain pissed off at it seemingly not yet having been applied to the Elton John duet.
 
And I'm sure those Sam Ryder fans will be delighted with his level of success now he's been unshackled from the chains of being an Amazon exclusive :D
 
I actually really LOVE Laufey's version of Winter Wonderland from last year. She's actually a very talented jazz instrumentalist and singer that does jazz-pop, sort of this generation's Norah Jones, but she seems a lot COOLER. She has some really decent numbers on Spotify for someone of her genre.
 
I've heard a few people stanning Laufey but I don't want my first hearing of her to be a Christmas cover so I'll need to dig up something else before my ears are inevitably assaulted.

Interesting that most tracks held on reasonably well from the Monday midweeks, some rising, some falling.

Wham! held Gracie Abrams off #1 all week on Spotify, albeit with a lead much smaller than last Saturday and Sunday. Her sales for the week were 48,196, with 42,921 for Wham!, so I'd be very surprised if they don't overtake her next week.

With a new 2024 Ultimate Mix marking the 40th anniversary of its first release, Do They Know It’s Christmas explodes 45-8 (28,289 sales) for Band Aid. The original version of Do They Know It’s Christmas topped the chart in 1984, as did a Band Aid II version in 1989, Band Aid 20 in 2004 and Band Aid 30 in 2014 The physical and digital EP versions of the new release include the 40th anniversary edition, and all of the others apart from Band Aid II. Selling 4,990 CDs, 2,438 12-inch vinyl singles, Do They Know It’s Christmas tops their individual format charts this week.

But I assume now the pure sales will be a lot lower, it'll fall next week anyway. It's already down to #81 on iTunes.
 
That Robbie Williams Christmas album from 5 years ago has had no lasting impact, has it?

It didn't chart a single track, and although did chart again the year after with a re-release and a new track, hasn't charted again since.

I think this year's figures were probably down in part because the sales week included the very end of November, whereas last year, it was all in December. But I don't think that would explain sales for all of them being down roughly 20%.

I'd like to think people are fed up of the same old songs over and over but it's probably something more mundane than that.
 
I did wonder if Spotify had lost market share and that's why its figures were down, but the total sales the charts are reporting are broadly down by the same percentage, so it doesn't seem it's that. It'll be interesting to see if the pattern holds right through to Christmas.
