They may be cunts but this was FAR better than it had any right to be and was appallingly mismanaged by the label. They had decent sales and two big hits, then they waited FIVE MONTHS to release a third single, and went with one of the most un-hitworthy tracks on the album. :manson:

Natalie really does have a lovely voice though and as a whole record I prefer this to any of the group stuff.

"Don't Worry" was such a SEMINAL POP SONG

it should have been MUCH BIGGER but there was so much cynicism drawn towards them at the time, which was largely their own fault

but yeah Natalie had a LOVELY voice and it is really odd that she was gven so few vocals on the All Saints albums.
 
I'm sure she does but it's VERY Natalie heavy. I'd have to re-listen closely to say for sure.
 
I liked Fantasy and Don't Worry but that's about it. My mate Terry threw chewing gum at them when they performed at G-A-Y.

That is almost as good as when Stacey threw that Fireman's helmet with SLUTS written on it at Girl Thing and one of them wore it without realising.
 
Apallingly managed - why such a long gap between the singles? Were the label really that stupid? Or were they just lazy cunts?

Waiting For Your Love was the SUMMER SMASH that never was
 
I have totally rediscovered this album recently. Oh how I love 'Don't Worry'. Natalie has SUCH an attractive voice.

she should have had more vocals on All Saints, fucking SHAZNAY

Melanie couldn't even sing live...

I've tried, I've tried... the album really doesn't do anything for me at all... and all things considered it really should
 
5am is PANTS! :D

It's like some failed weird musical theatre song, it just doesn't work. I always feel embarassed for them when I hear it.
 
5am is LOVELY. She sounds like Karen Carpenter on it.
 
Another vote for 5am here. It is the defining moment of the album.
 
One of my life's ambitions is to fly a kite on Primrose Hill, all thanks to that slightly tragic lyric in whichever single.

(it's not at very high up my list though)

Ring-A-Ding-Ding came up on my iPod a couple of times last week. Fuck me it's magnificent. All six minutes of it is amazing, contstantly building up to the final, bitter "and IT will COME back to haunt YOU cos you let me GO-OOOOO".
 
It's CORKINGLY good. All the more so because it was so UNEXPECTED.

You know, I just KNEW Suedey was the person who had rated this 1/10 before I even clicked through to the poll results... :D

I was having a moment to Studio 1 yesterday. "Rock Steady" really was a BLINDING comeback single with a truly STELLAR video.

RIP the NASTY ALL SAINTS :D
 
I don't care for most of the album but "Don't Worry" is a blinder! Absolutely beautiful and I still listen to it frequently.

Oh, it had some cracking moments. But yes, like all the Saints' albums, it did suffer from a lack of quality control - most of which I suspect could be placed in Shaznay's lap. Those cod-ragga numbers really are dreadful on every album.

It's their best effort overall though after the very weak debut and the more than patchy follow-up.

Same here. I liked it at first but its gloopy sentimentality is quite at odds with some of the other stuff on there.

Definitely the best All Saints album they never made. Shove a couple of their big singles on here and this would have been an all time classic.
 
Do you know I don't think I ever heard RIng a Ding Ding. Weird because I had the album (didn't really bother with it much). I probably assumed judging by the crap title that it was like a Booticall track or whatever that AWFUL 3rd single from the second AS album was called - Hooked Up or something? Ugh

Anyway I've just discovered that it's lovely. Was William Orbit all over this album or were they just heavily influenced by the second group album stuff?

I might have to check it all out again.

Ooh "Ring a Ding Ding" was produced by Marius de Vries (and wrote the music) ...who produced "Coming Up For Air" and "So you Say" for Siobhan Donaghy :o

He also worked on Northern Star. :disco:

I find Everything's Eventual to be SOMETHING of a COMPANION PIECE to Northern Star, I MUST SAY.

Ring-A-Ding-Ding is truly fantastic. Hands down my favourite.

Overall I find it hard to pick between this CD and Saints & Sinners. Essentially Saints & Sinners is full over very much average album tracks, but whether it was through overplaying by me or the fact that I love the group so much, I actually really enjoy it.

Weren't they meant to re-release the album after the "EE" single with a brand new track called "Call Us An Ambulance". Oh, how I wonder how that sounded.
