What are your feelings towards Artificial Intelligence generally?

Fucking hell. Surely that bit about the original judge approving the AI use is incorrect. SURELY.

In a somewhat wonderful/horrible irony, I’m reading reports about proprietary software being decoded by AI and repackaged by hackers - for free. PlayStation, Adobe, Salesforce, there’s other versions out there that don’t cost anything. I guess a bit like how you can get free versions of Excel, Word etc that aren’t MS but essentially do the same thing. But instead of taking years to develop they’re taking hours.

So digital piracy just got a lot bigger than Napster.

I wonder how the tech giants are going to feel about AI when they can’t sell their toys anymore? Maybe the subscription revenue of AI platforms will be so high they don’t care anymore. Maybe it’s the trade off. Bundled software for the masses so they can keep their AI tech to build better weapons.

I have ALWAYS said GOD BLESS NIC CAGE. important to note also a certain residual fuckability...

Well this is scary, we have a new medical record application at work and it has a section for the patients to agree to AI for “enhancement of the medical record” which (from what I have gathered so far) is used for doctors to vocally say what needs to be charted then the AI will decide how best to “write” it in the chart. I swear we are cooked.

I know a guy at work runs his emails to me through chat gpt to make them sound more ‘friendly’ and it’s just causing me to be a bigger cunt to him tbh.

So many people at work are so completely cooked by it and using it to do everything (to often mediocre results) that I worry their brains will be fried in 5 years. The brain is a muscle and I think the long term effects of outsourcing all your problem solving skills, analysis and creativity to a machine is going to permanently make you an idiot. I guess this is what the ai companies want long term, for us to be dependant on the machine, but in an increasingly competitive job market I believe building up a resistance to it is the best thing you can do to maintain your employability as it takes more and more jobs.

Like even pre-ai everyone at my work was so fucking stupid that no one could change the toner in the printer, I dread to think how fucking useless they’ll be a decade from now.

I ran a worksheet through A.I. in a class the other day, so I had the answers (it was science, not my bag). I got several wrong :manson:.
