I wouldn't turn it off, but wouldnt actively seek it out either.

And as I haven't listened to the album for years as the thin, cheap and tinny production of much of it offends me, I don't remember the last time I did hear it.

Aphrodite is her most overrated album imo. First two singles aside (and the second is contentious anyway) the rest can frankly DO ONE (though admittedly I do have a rather large soft spot for Too Much).

There are some certified bops on Aphrodite though, including Can't Help The Feeling, Cupid Boy, Illusion, Everything is Beautiful and yes, Looking for an Angel
And then you have the first two singles which were both 11/10 moments
I do have a soft spot for the album actually.

I find the album as a whole quite unpleasant, due to the production. And I dont think she sounds particularly good on much of it, either.

I think the people running down Better than Today need to acknowledge that there weren't many obvious singles on the album full stop.

I love Illusion as much as everyone, but a single it is not. And Aphrodite would have been fun but is clearly designed to be a concert track/statement of intent. Mayyyybe as the lead single, but then All the Lovers was so obviously that.

Get Out of My Way really didn't do that well either given how good it is, so I think the third single was always destined to flop.

Thankfully we were slapped right in the gut (in a good way) by Timebomb soon after which is perfection.

Still love BTT. And it is a recession anthem.

The album is actually more solid than I've given it credit for before. Too Much or Can't Beat the Feeling would have been my choices (in that order, although Feeling does seem to be begging for a beefed up Richard X remix), but I think overall the songs sort of feel quite dissolvable into each other. Illusion is my favourite non ATL song, but in no way is that a single. Get Out of My Way was our 3rd or 4th serving of the same song despite being otherwise rather glorious. So maybe without any sonic standouts beyond Lovers and Illusion, it just didn't cover any new ground. At the time, with Stuart Price and co contributing, it was a big missed opportunity regardless of how well it may have done.

Oh, and shout out to the PWL Hands Up - a Kylie sidesplitter if ever there was one. In its album edit though, huge pass.

The album all sounds like one song to me overall, and the ones I rather like tend to be the obvious non singles (Everything is Beautiful and Looking for an Angel).

It’s decent overall but just quite anemic. Put Your Hands Up has the potential to be good for example, but just sounds empty.
