Can we get a list of who is a TERF and who is a trans ally? (1 Viewer)

She was dropped from the confidence man gig at WHP last night too. This really is going to hurt her career, I cant see a few streams from terfy mums keeping her afloat.

That must have been early doors then, because she wasn't on the bill for that 2-3 months ago.

I didn't click on it, but seemingly The Scotsman published an article in support of Raisin. Maybe I'm out the loop, but I just exclaimed "The Scotsman?" I didn't think they were like that.

After a very frustrating listen, and some tweets I've seen, I'm afraid:

Jon Sopel - Definite TERF
Emily Maitlis - Probable TERF
Lewis Goodall - At the very least NOT AN ALLY

:(

In which episode did all this crop up?

The BBC one out yesterday, they took a diversion to really go on about how the "trans issue" had captured the BBC and spent a surprising amount of time on it. Sopel also tweeted the other day about the newsreader who got reprimanded for rolling her eyes at pregnant people, and I didn't hear it myself, but both him and Maitlis were on the radio and apparently did the whole idealogical capture talking points thing with Shelagh Fogarty.

Goodall it was this tweet I saw, and the related article. It is very BOTH SIDES which raises my eyebrows:

I'm sure she's already listed here, but I was watching This Morning this morning, talking about the BBC drama, and Guardian TERF Sonia Sodha managed to take a supermarket trolley to the conversation and make it about how the BBC are supposedly biased against women in the "conflict between trans rights and women's rights". They all just sat there and took it, although Cat Deeley looked like she was inwardly seething.

I think Emily has been quite measured about this in the past and more pro-trans than not. As are John and Lewis, though John has gone down the 'these are the ones seeking to be truly offensive, and not the ones interested in the rights of women like JK Rowling'. But he can be a bit dopey generally.

Meanwhile, Alastair Campbell and Rory Stuart have done quite long segments on how they have gotten much more liberal and pro-trans over the last few years.

Providing that TRIP remains the best of all the UK political pods. <3

Questioning the judgement of anyone who's listened to that smug little podcast and is taken aback by the suggestion that the hosts are AWFUL PEOPLE

:zsazsa:

agreed. I listen every couple of weeks to one and it's abundantly clear that Jon Sopel is a total dinosaur of generally limited intelligence (dopey is not a strong enough word). Emily would be a disappointment but not a surprise as she's a middle aged, upper middle class white blonde British woman. all 3 kind of have a sense that they don't actually stand for anything except a fascination with politics itself.

The only one that i'd be even vaguely surprised about being a TERF sympathiser is Lewis Goodall - and that's simply because he's a bit younger than the other two.

I thought this one was supposed to be a bit more conservative? This is the American one right?

MAGA to have a meltdown please over this. I remember they all thought it was divine intervention when an American won the conclave !

maybe he's having lunch with them to tell them we are not ALL His children.

I thought the new one is a centrist/social progressive similar to Francis? although I bet he doesn't use the word FROCCIAGINE :(

I'm pretty sure MAGA actually thought Trump himself was going to be Pope, not whomever the hell this Leo is.

I seem to remember seeing a while ago that she’d given positive blurb for some TERFY book I can’t remember the name of so the writing was on the wall.
Yeah, she's made multiple terfy comments over time wthout ever fully coming out and stating her position, but I think it's pretty clear. LBC is rife with Terfs so she fits right in...

I've stopped listening to the podcast as a result of the episode being discussed above. Same goes for The Rest is Entertainment where both Marina Hyde and Richard Osman expressed Terf sympathies on an episode a couple of weeks back. Not massively surprised by Marina, but I'd thought better of Osman. Disappointing.

I must have missed the comments on The Rest Is Entertainment too. I assume it was when they were discussing the BBC fallout, and I’ve seen other people mention it, but I didn’t catch it myself.

Yep it was in relation to that. Osman was talking about Martine Croxall saying (in a way that implied he agreed with them) that a lot of people would have sympathy with her changing Pregnant People to Women. That followed Hyde going on a questionable tangent about male rapists choosing their gender identity, echoing standard Terf conspiracy theory.
