Captain Sir Tom Moore DEAD

BBC Breakfast describing it as a "sad day for many" and now showing a montage of him walking round his garden to plinky plonky music. It's never going to end is it?

The government must be loving the press focussing on just one Covid death to detract from the other 1449 from yesterday.

:D :D PLINKY PLONKY MUSIC!

Now I want them to speed up the footage and set it to the Benny Hill theme.

A friend of mine who's doing a local BBC breakfast radio show says all content this morning is on Captain Tom :manson:
Ugh! Is this honestly what the average person/family wants to hear about? I mean maybe it IS and I'm out of touch, but it feels so out of touch compared to what's actually happening.

It's what probably 33-50% of the listening audience wants to hear about, but the problem is that even if it's not a majority, it's rare to have that much cohesion around what the audience wants to hear. So best to satisfy them and avoid complaints

I have been fighting football gammons today who are INCANDESCENT with rage that players are still taking the knee and not doing a 100 gun memorial salute before kick off.

Even the VV BROWN DRAMA isn’t knocking poor old dead Tom off the front pages :(

Not quite the same, but Queen had a #1 in the 12 months before Freddie died.

Paul Bäumer (of Bingo Players fame) and Tammy Wynette (of Various Artists fame) are in a similar position to Freddie Mercury.

All the girls I went to school with in Luton are posting all kind of "Best of British" stuff on Facebook. Also all Brexiters.

Soz Boris love but I ain’t clapping for someone who had to raise money for the NHS because you couldn’t be arsed to give them any.

He didn't "have" to at all. The NHS is one of the few things the Tories actually fund properly because they know how much else they can get away with if they keep bunging cash its way (even if it's totally counterproductive compared with what actually sending some of the same cash towards social care might achieve, given how much bed blocking's an issue...)

omg why the fuck am I still in the suburbs there's definitely going to be clapping here

As if what Britain needed now was another WWII relic to act as a mascot / cudgel to "just get on with it" as this government rams another shit sandwich down the country's throat. Thanks but no thanks.

Oh what have you done! I'm getting stressed just thinking about the trouble you could cause bringing this back, but thankfully I have one of these to calm me down:

Did we see that the family **ALLEGEDLY** have syphoned off a whole wedge of the cash?

A few months ago I was listening to some of the recent Now albums because I'm very hip and happening, and I tell you, my DISBELIEF when I heard this person's hit singal...

I knew it existed but never imagined what it would actually sound like
