Actually yes. With Wham!'s recent resurgence as "the" Christmas song in recent years, is the sad irony of George Michael passing away on Christmas Day ever really pointed out? Or are we all just happy bopping along to it despite it being his death anniversary?

James Brown died on Xmas Day, IIRC. I remember seeing a CD in Fopp with a picture of Brown in a santa hat called "Funky Christmas" and to this day, I have no idea why I didnt buy it. Must have been skint at the time.

He's from my neck of the woods. My mum was a big fan and went out with someone for a while who knew him back in the day. A very nice and down to earth guy apparently. I do quite like a few of his songs

Matched its 2021 all time peak of #10 today. I doubt it would have performed so well without his death, as it has leapfrogged several other Christmas songs to do it.
