Oh, I know, it's not a massive saver but it is one commonly taken. I used to underwrite loans and credit cards so I'm used to seeing how people who aren't in standard PAYE schemes deal with their income.
 
Went out for a cheeky clap and was pleased to see so many other people making the effort. My parents found out a friend of theirs died today after being admitted to hospital with Corona (He apparently had long-term breathing problems anyway as a result of asbestos), so it felt quite appropriate.
 
I had been feeling a bit blasé here since it doesn’t seem to be taking hold anywhere near as other countries, but going into work for a meeting (one-to-one), the guy thought the government were covering up so I’m all wiggly again.

I wish I didn’t have to keep teaching but I’m worried about money too, and I couldn’t do without at the moment.

I left my mask at home too by mistake

I'm afraid it'll surge. they have barely been testing (possibly because of the Olympics? low numbers to make it seem like Japan is untouched. but that's irrelevant to safeguard now)

I’m in a shopping mall waiting to go to work and feeling like I’m going to die at any moment. The tables are really far apart, mind. This is the first time I’ve been anywhere crowded apart from train stations, and I wonder what people are thinking about just buggering around and shopping.

I mean more than half are wearing masks but still
 
the Japanese are a bit sheepish. Abe says things are fine and that's what they live by. masks are moot, I mean, money is changing hands all the time which basically counts as physical contact and people live in tiny homes together. that's a hot viral cauldron right there

you are not going to die, you have bridges to build!!

Thanks to Apple pay I barely need to touch anything anymore.
 
Just went to a supermarket to get OLD ELLEN'S MUM some loo roll. Just painful from start to finish- Asda wasn't open at its usual time, so went to Morrisons which is NHS only (fine) but didn't tell anyone or have a sign up despite loads of staff being there, so queued for 10 minutes outside before being turned away, none in Sainsburys and finally had to go to "crack-y Tescos" (so named because of the dreadful people who go there) for a pack of 16 Cushelle for a tenner. The social distancing thing at the tills was working fine but no one paid any attention elsewhere really- lots of leaning in over people and the suchlike.

Thing is, as well, I'm really enjoying helping people, but no one is GETTING it. My Mum keeps asking me daily to get her the odd thing, I've got a couple of other vulnerables (pregnant friend, old lady downstairs in my building, self isolating friend, OLD ELLEN'S MUM) I'm helping out but the older ones pay no attention to "I'm going to the shop at XXX, do you need anything?" and then say an hour after I've been "Oh love, I've run out of loo roll..."- going to the supermarket (or multiple supermarkets!) daily is really not good for me or the entire social distancing thing in general. I'm no use to them if I'm sick!
 
My Mum is taking it very seriously thank goodness. I'm doing all her shopping for her and she's staying PUT. The supermarkets seem pretty well organised here. Queues to get in (everyone waiting 2m apart etc), a proper queuing system and then pretty quiet inside because of that.

And Chris Whitty has just popped up in my Apple Music with a terrifyingly DEAD EYED message.

It's pretty common to see whats left in the bank at the end of the tax year and take that as a dividend, that's money that has been hard earnt and well deserved, but doesn't seem to count here, which is utter fucking bullshit. It's still subject to 20% corporation tax, it'll likely have been subject to VAT in most cases and it still comes under income tax. It's utter bullshit.
 
Aldi had tonnes of loo roll when I went yesterday afternoon!

Can’t really do any shopping for the parents as I don’t drive and they’re on the other side of London. My mum has 4 major supermarkets within a 5 minutes walk of her flat, plus a Polish supermarket. She says she has a months worth of food so she’ll be fine. She’s 69 and a half so doesn’t quite qualify for the vulnerable category. My dad lives a mile away and he and step mum are over 70 so I’ve told her to ask them to drop stuff off if she needs anything.
 
I'm back in work and it is eerie - the place is 3/4s empty, all the chill-out and meeting areas are roped off and half the desks are out of commission so as to leave space between people.

Oh, and our core system isn't working.
 
Are the over-70s in general still going to go into isolation? Nobody seems to have mentioned that for ages. They are still all tottering around here AS PER
 
I went the supermarket the other day and half the people on the streets were over 70. They still seem to be going out everyday for a pint of milk it’s mad.
 
Aldi was well stocked but the clientele shopping in their masks and gloves and backpacks made it all feel quite apocalyptic.
 
I’ll start saving again.

Wouldn’t know what to do with a goat though.
 
There'll be a massive HOOHAH if he's INDISPOSED as RAAB is supposed to take over WHICH ISN'T GOING TO BE POPULAR WITH ANYONE AT ALL
