You know I am so immune to all this now. I realised I watch mass graves being dug in New York yesterday and I wasn't even slightly moved.

What on Earth is this crap about a discussion to see if lockdown restrictions will be lifted later on in the week? We all know we are going to be stuck like this for the next month AT LEAST. What needs to be discussed?
 
I had to take a trip to A&E yesterday to the main hospital in the West of Scotland (nothing mega serious but it couldn't wait to see my GP on Monday) and it was SO weird. It was DEAD, and I was seen really quickly, in and out in about 40 mins with some antibiotics. I did feel really guilty going there but they told me I did the right thing.

There were tons of staff milling around all in PPE and there were only a few people waiting to be seen. They wouldn't even let you in without taking your temperature. The whole place was very calm but there definitely was a sense of tension all round.

Yeah they keep telling people they can still go to A&E for other things but nobody is. Apparently everyone is DYING AT HOME instead
 
Spain and Italy seem to be softening the lockdown. Surely it is still too early? They both still have thousands of new cases daily. :confused:

There's going to be a guaranteed second wave so I've always thought we'd be let off the chain for a while before that happens.
 
They're about to relax things in Austria too, so my Austrian ex tells me, and it's been pretty strict there for ages

Even post relaxation you'll still be mandated to wear a mask outside of the house

I would say a second wave seems inevitable now. The UK are likely to follow suit with other countries and I would say the lockdown will be extended here for another few weeks and then we will start to lift restrictions. Schools will probably be one of the first places to open here which again I am not happy about but will make a decision as and when whether to send my son back to school.
 
The generally dreadful Caitlin Moran surpassed herself this weekend by writing an article in the Times about how "lockdown is easy" (based on her terribly difficult upbringing growing up in a council house in the Midlands which she's never mentioned anywhere ever before of course) and then, er, ignoring the lockdown and loudly spending the afternoon in a friend's garden (ALLEGEDLY).

I guess it takes the mind away from the AIDS jokes, the "she was asking for it" rape thing and the Lena Dunham interview car crash.

Lockdown until the end of May, relaxed summer months but not back to normal in any sense, more restrictions again in October is how I see it panning out.

Yeah that makes sense. There'll still be international travel restrictions mind and all events cancelled. Gonna be a weird old summer.

Well, the country stopped for a few days, it's just some non essential workers going back to work if they can't from home. Other than that, still total lockdown for another 2 weeks, shops closed and everything more or less the same. I think this is still more strict that what you have there, isn't it?
 
Comparing Priti Patel to Darth Vader is wholly inaccurate and unfair. He doesn't smirk all the time.

I am based in Scotland and all non essential shops are closed, and most if not all non essential workers are off. The only condition we have that is different from you is that we can exercise for an hour a day.
 
I would say it is still too early for those non essential workers to be returning to work.
