I saw a flat advertised recently with CLOSE TO GALLIONS REACH RETAIL PARADISE included as a selling point. I think the GALLOWS would make for a nicer day out

It doesn’t NOT make sense as cases are higher in the outer boroughs (Tower Hamlets and the City of London a NOTABLE exception :D)
 
Bromley which is my nearest outer borough is a POX in general and in terms of Corona cases too.

I don’t know how I feel about this. On one hand it is a great idea, but by GOD the loneliness for some will be atrocious.
 
My stepbrother’s daughter has the lurg and now my stepmum is fretting about him and his wife. Ach they’ll be fine. Shame you can’t lock sprogs in a shed for a fortnight without busybody child protection people poking their noses in though.
 
Accoriding to the UK covid map, Kent and Medway have contributed 8,000ish new cases in 7 days from up to 8th December. I reckon that's about 8% of registered uk cases. GOOD ON THEM!

It’s been a confusing picture over here, Japan is at its all-time peak cases, but that’s about 3000 in a day, in a country double the size of the UK (albeit maybe more densely populated?).

my book of stats seems to think I’m seeing more people without masks than before, or maybe the masks have been going on so long that now it’s more jarring to see people without them.

deaths so far haven’t really spiked, but I’m a bit worried my work will stop suddenly
 
I just got stuck on a loop of youngish Twitter gays defending breaking Covid rules. Going to a party is fine because "I'm just doing my thaaang", so that's ok then. The main argument was "Well I'm not going to see my gran anytime soon so it doesn't matter does it".
 
Someone I worked with recently is caught up in the latest round of cancelled gays on twitter for going to a Christmas party

One of my friends has photos all over instagram and Facebook at a party of around 8 people over the weekend. Boils my piss.

Several of the leading "free-thinkers" who demonstrated against COVID measures in November (without masks, without any distancing) are currently in hospitalisation / ICUs over here. It's so, so frustrating to read. And these are the same people that won't get vaccinations next year and fill up the hospitals again. During my very very long hospital stay this summer I've made such great experience with all the wonderful people who cared for me and I know their plates are overflowing again right now, they'll be at their limits soon and this blatant disregard for rules and the embracing of wild conspiracy theories - it makes me genuinely sad and angry. It shouldn't anymore, at this point because people have shown themselves for who they are but still.

You know, actually, I disagree with this. Where do you draw the line? Smokers are killing themselves, the obese are not listening to rules. I see the sentiment, but I also think the NHS is for EVERYONE. No matter what. That's the whole point. Especially as it's a service EVERYONE pays for. (Well, nearly).

Whilst I agree, there are ways that those behaviours can fund the NHS. Sin taxing cigarettes and sugar etc.

I can't see Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs going after Cornova any time soon.

I really don't understand how people are chronicling themselves breaking rules, broadcasting it indiscriminately, and then being surprised when there's pushback.

Social media has melted people's brains.
 
Everyone has broken the rules in some way (except here, where we have literally no rules or containment measures), but posting it on social media is just stupid

I say it, because it'll never happen. The hippocratic oath is very clear. But I still think that actions should have consequences. If these people could see what they're putting our nhs staff through, I just really feel for them.

Meh. Wasn't planning to go out again before Christmas ANYWAY

No changes to the Christmas period relaxation though. PHEW
